Applanet is great if you want to try software before you pay for it.

Thats why I don't use emulators on my HTC, games look awesome, but lack of a real keyboard makes them next to impossible to play. Stick to games made specifically for Android devices strong points (ie... no keyboard is a weak point).

Any of these modern phones have a mini-usb port that could take a pad?

The HTC Desire has a mini USB though not sure it can accept devices.

Got one last week and it's really neat, lots of excellent functionality but available free on most tariffs.

They also have 'widgets' as well as apps, which actually have functionality when they're placed on your home screen... it also grabs all of your facebook friends' numbers and drops them in the phonebook.. it's a really clever piece of kit!

I believe it's a Micro-USB port, it's smaller than a mini I think?

I've been playing around with an emulator called 'Gensoid', it's realy good. Some games don't work or have graphical errors, but quite a few play great, Streets of Rage 2 is rather excellent as is Sonic. Seems to be running full speed with hardly any slow down or sound issues on most games.

Also been playing around with a GBA emulator called GameBoid. I've played Final Fight One and Double Dragon on that, very very good indeed.

Both these emulators have an option for an external controller, which is rather intriguing. What would be one of these?

Might be something like this... I think there`s emulators coming out for Android that support this!!
