I appear to have dropped into a parallel universe without even noticing.
This happens to me all the time tbh.

Well, let's put it this way. When I came to emulate the CPC, I went through all the best ones thinking the emulation was off, but over time the horrific reality soon dawned on me that this was indeed accurate emulation.

Ah a trick question. The best 8-bit was probably the C64 or the Atari 800!

God, is it really April 1st already? I just don't know where the time goes.
In all seriousness, to make the argument that the Amstrad CPC was gaming's best 8-bit computer then in my opinion you'd have to sucessfully argue that a) it had at least as good a sound chip as the C64 if not better and that b) it had a games library with as much or more depth and quality as the C64 or ZX Spectrum.

Loathe to quote Edge here but:
'...Very few classic games auctually originated on the Amstrad (in fact, Edge can't think of any, off-hand)' and....'The untimely ugly sister of the 8Bit computing scene'.

I'll follow that up with a quote by Sir Bob Geldof:-thevulture wrote:Loathe to quote Edge here but:

"The Amstrad is sh*t"

If the Amstrad CPC was the "ugly sister" what does that make the GX4000?

All the kids at our school had Spectrums or C64's. If you wanted a good kicking you admitted to owning an Amstrad. No one did...
