Who's getting a 3DS then?

Post by Darran@Retro Gamer » Fri Mar 04, 2011 6:37 am

We should have our machine very soon, so we can review all the suitable games for issue 89.
Is anyone here intending to get one on launch day, and if so what titles are you interested in?
Personally we'll most likely be reviewing
Pilotwings, Super Street Fighter IV, Ridge Racer 3D, Rayman 3D, Ghost Recon and possibly Super Monkey Ball and Sims 3

The game's I'm actually interested in are Pilotwings, Ridge Racer and Ghost Recon.

I did originally plan on getting one, but cancelled my pre-order earlier in the week due to lack of funds & almost a lack of interest. The region locking is really nagging at me as I import a lot of US DS games, so chances are I might import a US 3DS later on in the year.

If I could justify spending £300 quid (with some games) on a little toy I'd spend about 3 hours a week playing I'd get it

Does the 3D effect work if you only have one eye?

I'll hopefully be getting it on March 25th. I should be getting SFIV in a bundle (HMV is where I'm supposed to be getting mine from), and I'll pick up Pro Evo seperately. Ridge Racer and PilotWings will have to wait until the next payday after March 25th.

I'm ready for a new console - not bought one since my Saturn about three years ago - so I'm very much looking forward to the launch!

Just recived my yearly bonus at work-even after taxman has had his share i could pay off garage bills and pick up a 3DS.

Not going to happen though.Awaiting the MK2 with improved battery life etc, by then? Be a better range of games avaiable and 2nd hand bargins.Launch price too high for a handheld that currently only has the 1 game i really want (Resident Evil).Once the novelty of 3D wore off, i'd be wanting more than what's currently on offer.

I'll be grabbing one at launch mainly for Super SFIV and Pilot Wings but I'm also looking forward to Ridge Racer and Samurai Warriors at launch, plus the Resident Evil games, Mario 3DS and Megaman Legends 3 post launch.

I might.

I wasn't going to, but then I made the mistake of trying out the demo unit in my local Gamestation. That 3D screen works magnificently.

So now it's become a definite 'maybe'. I'll have to see what kind of cash I have and what I can trade in for it. Don't think I'll bother pre-ordering though.

Seems the 3D effect, whilst initally amazing, is not for everyone (and in cases making some feel ill after a few days), KOTAKU writer Brian Ashcroft:

'...6 days in and i've already ditched the 3D.I loathe it, it's a feature i can do without'.

Curious to see if these are isolated incidents or wether many people find the 3D effect does cause headaches etc.
