Re: Charity Shops
Have to? I think not. The unions would go mental.
That said, in my time as a civil servant I'd have looked at this as a nice skive away from the office, so I'd have done it anyway.

I don't see how such short-term work could benefit the shop. If a new person comes in, it takes time to show them around and teach them the ropes and if they're off after a few days that time goes down the toilet.Antiriad2097 wrote:Have to? I think not. The unions would go mental.

Re: Charity Shops
The PCS has got other things to do at the minute, like refusing pay deals that would benefit 90% of the staff because 10% would have to do a bit more work.Antiriad2097 wrote:Have to? I think not. The unions would go mental.

Got a mint CIB copy of Killer 7 for GameCube for £5 today. The BIN men are currently asking between £30-40 for the Cube version but the game is available more cheaply on PS2.

Nintendo versions are almost always more expensive. Particularly in the case with gamecube games as there were less stock made.English Invader wrote:Got a mint CIB copy of Killer 7 for GameCube for £5 today. Re: Charity Shops
Plus, GC Killer 7 is the original with the PS2 edition being a port, one which isn't terrible but certainly isn't to the same standard.
A game like Killer 7 will not have sold amazingly well on the GC either!

Re: Charity Shops
Sorry to bump an old post, but I couldn't get over this the other day. I got my White and Black editions both from Argos for a fiver each a few years back - Was wandering around CEX the other day looking for SNES stuff, I noticed that both are well over £35 each now. Crazy.ALK wrote:A good find as I've noticed the Main Pokemon games have gone up in price since Go's success. Think CeX were charging something like £38-42 for the BW games....slacey1070 wrote:Time crisis 3 ps2 £1.50 - it's in absolutely mint condition, with manual and other inserts.
Pokemon black 2 £3.00. In a pokemon white ds box without instructions. Am sure I have a loose white cart somewhere.
Re: Charity Shops
Just on charity shops generally, they're definitely wising up to Retro gaming and the value in it. BHF seemingly have an instruction to send anything retro game-related to head office to be put on eBay and loads of the other charities seem to be pricing high and handsome and then putting on eBay.
When they're not putting stuff on eBay, they're pricing from it and thus getting ridiculous prices. Need for Speed on the PSP the other day - £9.99 in a Hospice charity shop. £3.99 for PS2 games in YMCA.
On the flip side, I got a SNES controller for 50p from the Scope discount shop last week.

Re: Charity Shops
Some stuff does gaet by the shop 'experts' though not much. Did just get a PC Jurassic Park Operation Genesis for 99p so cant complain.
I used to love the mooching and hunting but its made more difficult by greedy pricing , even just from a customers point of view.

Re: Charity Shops
In my experience the larger the shop the higher the prices. The small local ones are where the best deals are to be found. BHF, Oxfam, etc forget it they will over price and anything of deal value will be sold on ebay
Re: Charity Shops
Picked up Super Mario Land and Pokemon Blue, cart only for 1.50 each and Crash Bandicoot 2 ps1 for 2.00. Very pleased esp with crash as I didn't want to have to pay 20 quid for it.
Swapped Pokemon Blue for Buster Bros. (AKA Pang) Gosh pang is hard on the Game Boy!

Re: Charity Shops
Nice little find the other day - Castle of Illusion (MD) boxed with instructions. Cost me one whole pound. I'll probably put it on eBay sometime soon though - I don't actually have a Mega Drive but I just can't resist a bargain!

Re: Charity Shops
Had a bit of a mobile phone day today.
Nokia 3330, Nokia 7373 and a Nokia 6111 with chargers and all working.
Microsoft Lumia 535 for a single pound (!). Locked to Vodafone but works a treat with Windows 10 on it. My mate manages the local Oxfam bookshop and couldn't sell it in the shop. So gave it me for a nominal donation.
