Re: Charity Shops
great find.
I saw some Atari ST games in a shop at the weekend, but held off as I'm not sure my old ST works. Will probably regret it

I still don't know how you all find these things in charity shops, best I have picked up was FFXII for the PS2, and that was a few years ago.
Re: Charity Shops
the only decent thing I have ever found was 10 megadrive games years ago
and some ps1 game, alundra something, think I gave it to someone on here

Wish I could find boxed systems of anything. T.T
Ahh well, just have to stick with original XBox games I've been finding lately.
Syberia II
Rayman 3
SSX On Tour
Spice World (PS1. Oh the joys of picking this stuff up for collection purposes...)
£1.49 each.

Re: Charity Shops
Found Xbox Barbie Horse Adventures for £1 last night. Bonus.
Also, both Star Wars trilogy DVD box sets for a couple of quid each. Pleasantly surprised to see they still go for £20ish on ebay!

Re: Charity Shops
Charity shop gamehunting is a bit of an obsession of mine. Every charity shop gets retro stuff in from time to time, but it flies off the shelves and as such you're lucky to find stuff if you go into them on the odd occasion.
I go to my local crap part of town twice a week to have a rummage.
Effective tactics:
Be nice and chat to the staff. About 25% of what I buy never sees the shop floor. My local PDSA saves stuff for me to look at now as they know I'm a collector and not a re-seller (if I've got a massive bargain, I always make sure to put a tenner in the donations box too).
Go on Wednesdays and Fridays. Mondays are the worst day to go as anything they had over the weekend almost certainly got bought on Saturday morning. Stock is replenished early on in the week, so Wednesday is a good starting day. I then re-check on the Friday.
Look in the children's DVD section. I have found in excess of 5 platinum GameCube games in there because people mistake the silver cases.
Obvious one, but check the CD shelves. More often than not that's where they put the PS1, PC and TurboGrafx games (yup, I've found those too) even if they have a dedicated games section.
I'm from the North West but live in London now and no region seems to be any better than the other.
Worst mistake was not buying the NES Deluxe set with ROB the robot from Oxfam. Went to think about it for 10 minutes and had gone by the time I came back. It was mint condition and priced at 100 - must easily be worth triple that and so hard to come by these days.

Re: Charity Shops
£100? I would have ripped their arms off for that, esp if it was boxed. Saying that I also saw it boxed in cash converters about 4-5 years back for the same price and should have gambled on it as well.LonDan wrote: Worst mistake was not buying the NES Deluxe set with ROB the robot from Oxfam.
