I Agree, total double standards there. I consider every retro game machine saved from the dreaded crusher is a lucky one- I hope to rescue many more!

Re: Charity Shops
I hate to see anything waste thats in working order like house demolished to make new builds that will posssibly not be as good. I went one charity shop once they had a free stuff basket with mega drive games so i put a few quid in the donation pot and got a few good games

I agree totally. Free Megadrive games sounds good also, you did the right thing donating though, nice to see there are some genuinely nice people out there.
Re: Charity Shops
Saw an Amstrad Disc system with a boxed Batman game on disc today(looked like Head over Heels but with Batman) and a Phat PS2 with 4 dance games for £20..
Last few days I have bought official GBA POkemon Sapphire for 50p and a slim PS1 for £5, PS2 Gumball 3000 99p and Gamecube Spiderman 2 25p.. They must have had 50 PS2 games and 20 X Box games

Re: Charity Shops
Donating money into a charity bucket in store or on the street is the best way to donate as it goes 100percent to the cause but sadley in most charity shops managers take a fair cut as a wage and take expences out the till that the charity says is ok with proof of said expence and i hate all this 3 pounds a month stuff as its all comission based. So i prefer to donate to a collectionb bucket/box. That said i do buy in charity shops but if i hear of or see nasty managers who mistreat or bad mouth volunteers i avoid said shop.sidney wrote:I agree totally. On a lighter note my local charities seem to get less dvds cds and game at the moment why is that? has ebay selling increased for ps1 and ps2 stuff as normaly its everywhere

I agree mate. The donation box is a great way to give. I too avoid any shop that treats it's volunteers like dirt, mercifully not many down our way do which is pleasing. I must say that I have found fewer and fewer console games in charity shops- I tend to see a shed load of PC stuff though which is unfortunate as I don't PC game!

Never donate to jars in the street etc. Anyone can knock up a convincing tin and claim to be from a charity. Ditto for doorstoppers and chuggers.

Re: Charity Shops
No problems with donating to pots inside charity shops, chuggers can get stuffed.

Re: Charity Shops
I picked up Battalion Wars and Second Sight (both for the Gamecube) from a local Barnado's yesterday.

Currently I am in the USA and all I am seeing gamewise in thrift stores is PC guff.
