Agreed, some brilliant tunes on Ristar and Revenge of Shinobi indeed. I'd say the soundtracks of Shinobi 3, Gauntlet 4 and Shining Force 2 also deserve a mention on the Megadrive front - think my favourite tune would have to be the nice laid-back one that accompanies you trashing the bar on the first stage of Streets of Rage 2 though. Excellent stuff.

When you think you've got problems you don't really need,
They're maybe not as bad as they seem,
Cos in a world full of misery, with hatred and greed,
Your problems are another man's dream.

Also google VGL Live or Video Games Live - It's an annual event where all of our favourite tracks are played in full orchestra/piano or whatever else - simple AWESOME!

Has to been C64 (obvously)

Ocean Loader 3 , but for in-game music either Rambo or Combat School. Many C64 games had great in-game tunes , but they didnt really fit with the on-screen action , it seemed like musicians were more intent from getting great tunes out of SID rather than considering the game they were being written for.

For modern day games , Zoo Mania has brilliant SID music.

TBH Just about any SNES game invokes a whole lot of nostalgia for me.

You might want to try it under its us moniker ASP Air Strike Patrol

Sonic 2, Mega Drive. Chemical Plant Zone music gives me goosebumps :)
Wonder Boy III, Sonic 1, Master System. Wonder Boy especially, the music is sublime, the end theme really makes me emotional
Fairly obvious choices really, but genuinely my favourites.

'Score' is pushing it, but I love the dinky music on Dig Dug for Atari 2600 that plays whenever the player's moving! Moon Patrol, too!

Metroid for SNES - Just brilliant stuff, wonderfully atmospheric.

Duck Tales for NES - Everything about this game captured the feel of the cartoon show beautifully. I think my favourite track is for the Moon level.

Sonic 1-3 and S&K go without saying!

Hellfire (Megadrive) (1st level especially!)
Auf Wiedersehen Monty (Speccy 128k) (The first game I got for my +2, I couldn't believe a Spectrum could do anything other than farty rasps!)
Robocop (Speccy) ( Well if it's good enough for Ariston - OK I know that was the GB version but they're practically the same!)
Speedball 2 - The soundtrack just fitted it perfectly.
Bubble Bobble - Just beautiful. :D
