this brings back memories of the first proper open-world RPG I played - Daggerfall. I remember being gobsmacked at how freely you could move around, as well as packing in the usual levelling and inventory management. I played Morrowind for a while, and loved Oblivion on the PC - in fact I bought a brand new graphics card just for the game! :D

Hoping to hear more on this one soon. Just the setting has wetted my apetite though. Plenty of Norse mythology references I hope. If there's no cult of Turisas worshipers I'll cry ;)

Just saw on the id Software page at Wikipedia that they're listed as being a "Publisher or producer" on Skyrim. Pity I can't find a reference to that anywhere else at the moment though.

The game looks amazing (assuming that the game will actually look close to the "in game" footage from the trailer). Either way Oblivion is still one of my favourite games this gen (and usually I'm not even a fan of RPG's). Still haven't finished it though, have to finish off the last of the Shivering Isle's main missions and a couple of bits of DLC that I got way, way back.

This Skyrim video made me laugh. Its by the same guy that did the Saturday Morning Watchmen animation that was doing the rounds last year:

my biggest concern is the new game engine,i just hope it is better than the last glitchy/freezing mess from oblivion.i still really enjoyed oblivion it just wound me up having to reset and reload so often.

Is it November yet? Get the feeling it's going to be a long year waiting for this... Then it'll be released the same day as Arkham City. I know it's a gamble but gaming execs hate me :(

this game looks so amazing - i really can't wait for it. In fact, I can, as I'm still playing through Oblivion, just started it again as a new character, it's amazing how many different ways you can play this game and still get so much enjoyment out of it - i'll wager that not one of us on here has played through Oblivion the same way! Currently I'm playing through as a stealthy archer and pulling off some awesome long-range sneak attacks :)

Does look good but only go half way-ish though Oblivion so would have to finish the main story of that first.

I have spent hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of hours lost in Bethesda Studios games, and I've not regretted a single second. Not one second.

The only problem I have is:
Do I buy it on day of release or wait for the (sadly inevitable) patch?
