DS Recomendations?

Post by Britnostalgic » Wed Dec 01, 2010 1:59 pm

Help! I'm massively losing interest in my DS... I loved Ninja Gaiden, Contra 4, Metroid Hunters, Sideswiped and Space Invaders Extreme, but I'm finding nearly every game I've picked up recently doesn't do anything for me. Can anyone recommend any decent games before I go mad?

One last question, I just can't seem to get on with RPG's on the DS, is there one RPG out there that will change my mind?

I really like the following:

Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia
Chrono Trigger
Phoenix Wright games
Professor Layton games
Sonic Chronicles/Rush
Zelda games

Two that i've really gotten into are Elite Beat Agents and Lost Magic.

Gamesmaster's own Dominik Diamond highly reccommends Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor, I'd love to try it myself but its seems quite rare/expensive. :(

I found myself playing Mario Kart again.

Elite Beat Agents is very good. You get to use your stylus a lot.
Then you can start playing the Japanese version of the game (Ouendan).

GTA Chinatown wars is pretty good too. Spent a good 24 hours on it.

But recently I've been playing Tetris Party Online over the Nintendo Wifi.

Just bit the bullet and purchased Final Fantasy: The Four heroes of light... I've already killed the Witch in the north, and now I'm off on another mission to understand why the people of my village have all been frozen. So far so good, quite a difficult game, shame about the graphics.

Please keep the recommendations coming

In addition to the gems already mentioned, try Rhythm Heaven / Paradise (I forget which name applies to which region).

I have honestly never laughed so hard while playing a video game, the characters are wonderfully silly. The tunes are also very catchy indeed. Great music game. :D

Anyone with a DS should really grab a copy of PicPic, you'll wonder how many hours go missing playing that game
Occupying my DS slot these days are, Fire Emblem, Infinite Space and Hotel Dusk Room 215, all of which i'd recommend

Just started playing Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars: Directors Cut. Not really a RPG but one of the best point and click adventure games.

Sadly the DS version lacks the voices but I've no gripes other than that so far. The graphics are quite nice and the "Directors Cut" adds a sort of prologue part of the stroy where you play Nico at the begining of the game, set the day before the Cafe incident that started the original game.

Still maybe it's not worth buying if you've played the orginal and are still over-familiar with the plot and puzzle solutions. But if you've never played it before it might be worth considering. It's a really good, and sometimes amusing, conspiracy story that should last 10-12 hours. They're may be little replay value but you pick it up fairly cheap.

I don't think it is out in the UK yet and you may not be an Intellivision fan but I've been having a lot of fun reliving my past on the DS with Intellivision Lives! Emulation is excellent and there are 60 games though admittedly it's a mixed bag. For me Advanced Dungeons and Dragons:Cloudy Mountain is worth it alone though it is named Crown of Kings in this compilation. Many classics anyway. Space Spartans, B-17 Bomber, Dark Stalker...Sadly missing Tron Deadly Discs.

Agree with these, wholeheartedly, especially Picross 3d (and the 2d one, as well).

The Prof Layton games are quality too.

There's a ton of sh*t-hot Japanese games to go for too, eg Loopop Cube: Cube Salad.

Golden Sun: Dark Dawn is just out - had the import over the last few days and it looks and plays beautifly. Also Peggle DS is good if you want something a little different...
