For me it was Space Invaders in 1980. The next year I discovered Pac Man, Phoenix and Crazy Climber at a holiday camp and a life long hobby was born. I have 2 daughters now and I don't think they'll ever understand the excitement of those days. I wish i could discover a new hobby that makes me feel like i did all those years ago as a 9 year old.

I didn't play Asteroids until it was available on the Atari 2600. :)

Out Run was brilliant. To take a ride in this modelled Ferrari must be an awesome experience. 8)

Hmmm. Not sure about the first game I played. Might have been a Space Invaders rip off on a cruise on holiday when I was about 9. Donkey Kong and Bubble Bobble were also 2 more of my earliest coin ops. :o

Not sure what the first was but I remember playing Ghost n Goblins at Manchester Airport (I lived nearby so would nip in there after school some nights to play the arcade machines).

Star Wars Arcade, in a seedy little arcade in Prestatyn. It was a sit down cabinet. Went to my aunts in Abergele every year, and each time I went down there and played it. I was gutted the year I went back and it had gone.

At first I thought "how the hell am I going to remember the *very* first arcade machine I played", then I remembered...

When I was about 5, we had an original Pong machine in our conservatory for a few months while there wasn't a home for it elsewhere. My dad was a service engineer for Associated Leisure, so we were always having the odd video cabinet, fruit machine, quiz game, jukebox at home for varying amounts of time.

The first one I can remember is I think Galaxians. The Space Invaders type game where they could steal your ship with a tractor beam, but you could later get it back and have two ships at once.

The first arcade game I remember really enjoying and playing a lot would have to be Gauntlet though.

Super Mario Bros. in 1985 or 86. The cabinet stood at the local diner :D

Atari's Star Wars the sit down cockpit version. Played it in Filey in the 80s.
Single handedly converted me to video gaming.

Mine was Asteroids back in '79 or '80. It didn't last long but it was the start of a wonderful journey.
