Never got into Sweet Home, but the above cover is pretty cool. I really like the hand drawn style of the Panzer Dragoon cover too, even if it is a little cramped.

Worst box art ever? Easy, Karnaaj Rally.
Most of the Atari Lynx ones were pretty atrocious too.

Cheers everyone! Been really enjoying looking through this and several times going "blimey, I had that....not seen that cover in yonks...had that as well....remember renting that out" etc, great nostalgia trip!
Well, as we've had the feature in the mag this month and the box art was certainly an absolute cracker (never seen the Japanese Shinobi III that someone posted earlier by the way, very nice!):
And....

There is actually a continuation of the most discussed art in this thread when you look on the back of the manual:
Makes it even more epic than it already is.
Here is some more MD greatness:
For those not familiar with him, check this guy's crazy collection of SEGA items, all complete with box art scans:

Funnily enough my Japanese copy of the game came through the post today and the first thing I looked a was the manual to see how nice the art was. Love the back cover with the fire-breathing fattie, lightning in the sky, biker and surprisingly detailed whip woman (compared to the in-game sprite which has obvious limitations).
I love how games like this and the
Golden Axe games in Japan have full-color manuals with character and enemy art all over them. A stark contrast to the crappy B/W things we get over here.

A Gargoyle Games classic.
I quite like this Hewson one too.
I was also considering uploading some of the Pysgnosis Amiga Box Art which always caught my eye even if I didn't have many of their games.

Done

Always loved this one. The sheer size of the huge craft above, in contrast to the tiny craft below.

My favorite cover by Roger Dean. I even like this one as well, also by Roger Dean.....

I've always loved the Psygnosis artwork. Futuristic, yet organic. Quite some works of art. Now, if only I could get some posters of the two SotB ones...

Good box art always made me feel I was buying a special game. Presentation was key sometimes.
