Suggestion for a meet

Post by Mantas » Tue Sep 12, 2006 3:50 pm

I've just read about the arcade in Southampton and then the thought hit me. How about we pick a Saturday and meet up there for the day? It closes at 6pm so those that need to get back home can do and the rest can head off for a meal and more retro chatting. It won't cost much adn I suspect we'll get to know each other a little better hunched over a 4 player Gauntlet machine.

Is this a viable option?

Depending on the week (I'm moving soon so money is being watched) I might just be able to make it.

That's killed any hope of anyone else turning up then. ;)

I'm up for this. I'm sure Richard would keep it open later for us any way.

A bit of a trek from Bristol, but I'd be well up for this (depending on when, of course!).

Perhaps we could hire the arcade out on an evening and just have it available to RG readers?

Obviously a visit the the pub/curry house/chinese is a must, as well.

Sounds like a laugh, is there anyway we could bring and set up some of our own consoles ETC..? Might get a bit boring just playing a few arcade machines after a few hours but seeing as there is no meet down south this year lets make our own..

I might be able to make something like this on the south coast.

I want to come, I want to come.

But its a bit far from Yorkshire. How about you get this Richard guy to pack all his machines into a van and we all meet up somewhere in the middle :D

Or maybe not :(

These things are always located for the benefit of people who eat coal and have whippets stuffed down their trousers. There should be at least one event down here in the civilised part of the country. I can't be expected to keep having to come north of Watford. I might see a poor person.

I'd go but it's about 160 miles from Norfolk, and it takes about 3 hours to get 20 miles.

Too many tractors and combine harvesters you see.

Ok, things are looking positive. Now comes the really tricky part. Deciding on which weekend to meet. I can't make it on 20th and 27th October and maybe 30 September (thats the Retrofusion weekend). Other than that, I'm free.

Does anyone here know the owner of the arcade? Maybe we should let him know that we're planning to storm his place.
