Wii launch date confirmed - sort of

Post by Mantas » Fri Sep 08, 2006 5:38 am

According to MCV (the games industry mag), the Wii will be launched on 24 November at £149. This is to coincide with the American Thanks Giving day weekend. Final confirmation is expected to come from Nintendo next week at the Tokyo game show.

The thing that is making me a little wary is that the main headline says one thing, but then a little way down the article says that it "BELIEVES" this to be the case which is just a little ambiguous. Anyway, have a look at the link.

People have been "beliving" it will be £150. since it was first annouced as the Revolution..

I can't see why they won't be able to do it given they are not using expensive media and new emotion fueled CPU's and it will certainly be able to take the mantle of "family computer" at that price and with the interactive controller.

Even Granny can try playing the tennis

No I wasn't hinting

But now that you metioned it what a nice offer  :D

I think I will just have to hint to my other half, but as he also wants a Wii chances are quite good for getting one :)

I tell you what I'll buy you one.....but just to let you know my birthdays in March, when a console by a little known company called Sony is released. You buy me that and it's Happy Birthdays all round

Miles better price then the PS3.... I think Nintendo are going to have a big hit on their hands, especially now the PS3 has been delayed until next year....

Sounds tempting, but Sony will probably put the release date from March to Summer 07 and so that just wouldn't be fair on you.

I think I will stick to getting my other half to buy it

That's like saying "A Gameboy is a miles better price than the PSP". You get what you pay for. If you don't want flashy graphics and the next gen video format then that's fine, but everyone seems to forget that the Wii is the least technically advanced machine of the next gen machines; it's bound to be the cheapest!

I find it amusing when people say "The PS2 is crap. The graphics aren't very good", but then go on about how good the Wii is compared to the PS3 - Not that I'm saying that's what you said.

As I've been lucky enough to play with wii, I can say that it isn't about next-gen graphics, its all about next-gen gameplay. The games I played looked very much like a GameCube.

I for one will be parting with my dosh come launch day. :D

I'm getting one. My birthday is in July and I don't want you to get me a PS3. Instead can you chip in and get me a game for the wii?
