I've just scoured the manual for you and it doesn't say either way.

thank you for looking

It's that I've seen a few copies in shops of late, but just a game with no Mic. Think I'll give it a go anyway

This was one of my first GC titles. Great game indeed and has remained under many people's radars. Nice multiplayer as well.

Favorites were Killer 7, Metroid Prime and Eternal Darkness. I liked the dark games on the Cube. Underrated system.

That's one of my fave GC games - definitely in my top 10 where the likes of Mario Sunshine and Mario Kart DD AREN'T.

To my knowledge, the game was never sold on it's own without the mic so it's highly unlikely that it is playable without. Couldn't say for 100% though.

I have 'Odama' and unfortunately you definitely need the microphone to play it. It is also useful to have the bit of plastic that comes with it to hold the mic to your controller, otherwise you have to hold both!

The mic shouldn't be too difficult to source, it came with Mario Party 6 and 7 too.

Whilst the mic is decent and well made, the game 'Odama' just isn't that great. I got bored very quickly.

That Odama really let me down. It just didn't live up to its potential and i was really looking forward to it. I love pinball games and this had the possiblity of being really great but it just... wasn't. I wouldn't worry about the mike either, as i recall it was used to order a group of soldiers about the screen but i remember yelling madly into the mike trying to get them to move and having no luck at all, they can be controlled by pad also but it all seemed so pointless after a while as they went nowhere that i wanted them to. It all got very tedious very quickly.

Are the Need For Speed Undergrounds worth getting? I have Most Wanted and REALLY want to get Hot Pursuit 2 but I have seen both Undergrounds for cheap...

expanding on this: what are the good driving games/ franchises on GC. Seems to be a weak spot to thee Cube's collection - I'm not keen on GC Burnout for example - and Double Dash is only passible

I thought the first Underground was alright. Of course, it all depends on whether you enjoy modifiying your cars and so on.

Racers-wise, GC has (off the top of my head)

NFS Underground
NFS Underground 2
NFS Most Wanted
NFS Carbon
NFS Hot Pursuit 2
SRS: Street Racing Syndicate
R:Racing
Rally Championship
Burnout
Burnout 2

There's probably a few more but F-Zero GX and Double Dash are the only two racers that I have for the 'cube (I look to PS2 or Xbox for my racing games).

I quite enjoyed Auto Modellista, not brilliant, but certainly decent!

There's more racers than you might think on the GC. Depends on the type of racing you like... realistic, cartoony, off road....etc

to add to Megamixer's list, there's:

NASCAR (3 games, USA only)
V Rally 3
Pro Rally
Dakar 2
Mercedes Benz World Racing
Lotus Challenge (USA)
GT CUBE (JAP)
Driven
ATV Quad Power Racing 2
4X4 EVO 2 (USA)
F1 Career Challenge
Downtown Run City Racer (USA)

then the less realistic games, there's:

Crazy Taxi
Cars
Gadget racers
Shrek Smash and Crash Racing
Micro Machines
Crash Tag Team Racing / Crash Nitro Kart
Taxi 3 le Jeu (FRA...although it's perfectly playable)
Grooverider: Slot Car Thunder (USA)
A couple of Hot wheels games
Cocoto Kart Racer
Monster 4X4: Masters of Metal (USA)
Wreckless: The Yakuza Missions
Simpsons: Road Rage
Smugglers Run

should be enough to keep anyone happy....and there's bound to be some i've missed out. Mayhem will know.

EDIT: oh yeah

18 Wheeler: American Pro Trucker and
Big Mutha Truckers

as well! (wouldn't want to upset FT by missing those out) :D
