Gamecube - your favourite title and collecting
Seeing as we're getting into the 2000s - be interested to hear everyones favourite Cube title. Also any obscure/underated gems you may like.
For me GC is all about the Crazy Taxi - I know it's not an exclusive - but that was one fun game.

Re: Gamecube - your favourite title and collecting
i prefer crazy taxi on the dreamcast where it belongs but of the port the cube version was the best
the ps 2 version was horrible and the gba port brave but not very playable
some of my favorite cube games include the zelda collection
wave race blue storm even if it is touchy
f zero gx
and smash bros melee

Re: Gamecube - your favourite title and collecting
Paper Mario, Tales of Symphonia, Resident Evil 4, F-Zero GX, Fire Emblem, Beach Spikers and Metroid Prime are my favourite titles.
Of those, I'd say Paper Mario or Resident Evil 4 hold the best memories for me though since Resi 4 went multi-platform, I'll give that award to Paper Mario.
As for collecting for the system, it's a bit more expensive than the PS2 and Xbox (even for the multi-platform stuff) but if you go for the first party stuff and exclusive third party games that aren't crap, it's relatively easy to quickly build up a decent 'cube collection.

Retro is a state of mind, and cares not for your puny concepts like dates and calendars.

I got a cube last year and love it. I'm not specifically collecting for it, but enjoying the games that come my way nonetheless. Currently playing Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance, favourite is the Resi REmake.

REmake for me too. One of my all-time favourites.

Re: Gamecube - your favourite title and collecting
I spent so much time with my Gamecube, it was vastly underrated. i remember getting it on release, May 3rd 2002 with Rogue Leader and Luigis Mansion. It had some brilliant 3rd party exclusives, like Eternal Darkness, Rogue Leader, Resi 4 and Super Monkey Ball. The one problem I had with it was that the updates of the classic Nintendo franchises were imo generally the worst games of each series. My top 5 Cube games:
1. Smash Bros Melee
2. Eternal Darkness
3. Super Monkey Ball
4. Soul Calibur 2
5. Rogue Leader

Re: Gamecube - your favourite title and collecting
My gamecube barely gets a look in anymore, it's back at my parents house. However, it had some truly awesome games Killer7, Pikmin, Resi 4 (once the best version), Wind Waker, Viewtiful Joe, Ikaruga, F Zero etc.
Rogue Leader blew my mind when I first saw it, it still looks amazing today. Fantastic showcase for a launch title, although I found it very hard.
Favourite game on the system has to be CHIBI ROBO

Burnout 2, best on Cube with the extra crash junctions. And the original Super Monkey Ball is still the best.

Toss up between Luigi's Mansion and Eternal Darkness. I'm a sucker for haunted house style games

I'm a big fan of those two as well, and 2 is my favourite Burnout to this day.Liamh1982 wrote:Burnout 2, best on Cube with the extra crash junctions. And the original Super Monkey Ball is still the best.
I'm going to promote Gotcha Force, an overlooked (marmite, probably) game that's kind of like Pokemon in a way, in that you collect toys that fight, but it's a much more action oriented battle system - you directly control robots and ninjas (amongst many things) fighting with swords, lasers and stuff. A total mash up, fast paced, great multiplayer. Worth tracking down.

Luigi's mansion has so much style and character, I loved it.
Re: Gamecube - your favourite title and collecting
Best 'Cube games for me will always be Metroid Prime (not so much the second one though
), Pikmin and Pikmin 2, followed closely by Super Mario Sunshine. Zelda: Wind Waker is good, but doesn't have quite the lastability of Ocarina of Time or Majora's Mask.
