Space Giraffe coming to Xbox360
Not sure if you guys are aware of this or not, but Jeff is working on a new game for XBL - "Space Giraffe" (working title)

Jeff does have a fairly severe problem keeping his toys located within the pram on occasion, not helped by his epically sycophantic forum.dr_bob wrote:He wasn't too hapy with OXM's review though:

There was a reasonable cross section in the debate on Something Awful, which included him though.
I just loved everyone slagging off the review without reading the review, saying he was clearly wrong about a game they..... hadn't played.

Oh, come on Duds, 2 out of 10 suggests a completely unplayable mess devoid of anyreal worth. Jeff's stuff may not be cutting edge tech but its always at least vaguely playable for a bit and its hardly expensive.
He should've stuck with a Wii version, then it'd have been all fanboys together

And based on the review text, that's exactly how the reviewer found it. He found it impossible to see the bullets and thus died entirely randomly.Antiriad2097 wrote:Oh, come on Duds, 2 out of 10 suggests a completely unplayable mess devoid of anyreal worth. So on that basis 2/10 is about right.
Of course he's almost certainly an idiot for holding that view, but the score matches the review text perfectly.

Irrelevent. Unless you're about to suggest all games should be given...ooh...73% to avoid hurting the devloper's feelings.merman wrote:Quite a few people on YakYak HAVE played Space Giraffe, though. How would you feel if you poured your heart and soul into something and had it badly slagged off like that?
I'm sure people worked long hours on Rise of the Robots, Kick Off 96 and International Rugby Challenge. Didn't stop all 3 being ultimately a pile of rotting sheep carcus. This reviewer clearly felt that Space Giraffe also qualified and the score matches the review text.
I say again though, I'm buying it sight unseen and *I* expect to enjoy it. But Jeff does seem to think he can make games he himself says are not for the average gamer and still be surprised when someone reviewing for the average gamer doesn't like it. And I don't think that's a reasonable expectation.
And I don't think the slavish fanboys that make yakyak sadly unreadable count as objective reviewers. No-one I trust even a little (except perhaps Jeff himself and he's biased in this case) has played SG, so I found them leaping to condemn the reviewer for supposedly doing EXACTLY what they were doing really quite funny.

It looks pretty good, I'll wait for real reviews from players and not gaming critics. It looks just as trippy as Tempest 3000 was when I got to play it on the NEUON.
Since I don't have my 360 yet, I'll just play Typhoon 2001 instead! For free!

And this is why I'm ever so slightly worried because Tempest 3000 DID have the "Can't see what the censored is going on" failing.Moon Jump wrote:It looks pretty good, I'll wait for real reviews from players and not gaming critics. The point is, the review and the score are suggesting the game is BROKEN, and badly broken to the point of being nearly unplayable. Jeff maintains that you CAN see the bullets (and there are additional audio cues), so the review itself is flawed.Dudley wrote:Irrelevent. Jeff has always said he makes the games he wants to play. As for the "slavish fanboys", that sort of loyalty stems from being a fan for many years, in the same way a football fan or a fan of a particular band develops a strong connection over the years.
