Forgotten worlds

Post by Fred83 » Fri Jun 18, 2010 4:44 pm

Another favorite game of mine.Released in 1988,of course the home versions couldn't match the superior arcade port. But they had their own quality's.Game was even released on the spectrum, master system and megadrive. And had a recent outing again on capcom classics collection. What was your favorite port?.

Mega Drive by far in my opinion- bloody superb! I was only playing it a fortnight ago with my bro, completed it again in co-op. Bought the "red lips" from the shop but nothing happened at the end. Conflicting reports that you need to finish the game again straight after for the shop lady to appear "naked"- or that it just gives you a million points!

Either way it's a bloody brilliant game. :D

One of my favourite Capcom games. MD port was outstanding, PC Engine CD was also excellent! I play this game regularly on MD and CPS1 emulators and the gameplay always impresses.

I had the C64 version, wasn't much cop unfortunately.
I love the arcade version and play it on MAME once in while. I always get killed in the same spot - the lead up to the God of War.

PC Engine version lacks the 2 player option, but is the best port otherwise. Pretty close to arcade perfect (minus the parallax).

The amiga version was pretty decent, as was the MD.
speed/missile/double/laser/option/?

C64 version was 1st i played, after seeing it get great reviews in Zzap 64 (forget score now), the games Machine 91%, ACE 885 etc. Considering the hardware, it turned out very well. Nice fast, well animated sprites, good sound, subtle colouring, looked pretty smart.Arc developments pretty much deliver i thought.

Cracking game, indeed. Played the both the Capcom Classics version and the Spectrum version on emulation, and loved it. Will have to hunt down a proper copy on ebay at some point.

I seem to remember being slightly unimpressed by a C64 conversion of the game that had been rated highly by Zzap!, only to be quite impressed many years later on loading up a very competent CPC version.

I tried the Speccy game last night on the DS and wow! The controls are terrible. I don't think I could ever get used to them.

TBH, I quite enjoyed it. Yes, they do take a while to get used to, but it's a cracking attempt.
