Retro Game Tunes Stuck in your Head

Post by mrmessy » Thu Aug 03, 2006 4:57 am

I often find myself whistling or humming old game tunes without realising that I am doing it. Sometimes I cannot even remember what the tune is for a while. There must be stacks of these annoyingly catchy tunes floating round in my head, and I didn't even have a C64. To name a few highlights, they include:

Knight Tyme (Spec 128)
Stormbringer (Spec 128)
Exolon (Spec 128)
Hydrofool (Spec 128)
Ranarama (Atari ST)
Shadow of the Beast (Amiga)
James Pond - Robocod (Amiga)

Not to mention quite a few seriously smart tunes from the naughty hackers' loading menus, for many cracked ST and Amiga games (which I only witnessed on other peoples computers, of course).

Which ones are lodged in your head?

Plus Bubble Bobble !

When I wake up in the morning, I often have the Rock 'n Wrestle (c64) tune going in my head.

I've got the soothing melodies of Vagrant Story going on at the minute because I'm playing through it again, but I often have Thunderforce 4 (MD) and Unirally (Snes) going round in here, basically because the tunes raaawwwk!

Mega Man 2 - Flashman. Partly because it's my current ringtone and I just learned it on guitar recently.

Hey, would you be annoyed if you heard the original version of that blaring out in the street? :D I had the Stryker's Run theme on before that too.

Max Headroom. There's a new remix on RKO this week too.

Sanxion sticks in my head, as does Antiriad (you'd never guess). Commando, Last V8, so many...

When I think of Mega Man 2 I always think of the music from the crash man stage. :P

I can't resist humming the Pitfall 2 tune when I go to over to my Mum's house - it drives her batty from the good old C64 days

Also Mrs Shin Gouki is rather annoyed at the moment because of the constant battle music from FFVI

Every so often I find myself humming the music from the Speccy version of Robocop.

Dum-dum-da-dum etc.,

One man and His Droid C64 again because it's my ring tone and Super Mario World because it's my alarm clock tone.
