Eh, there's the Unreal Tournament camp and the Quake III camp.

I just felt Quake III to be much faster paced and more fun.

I agree with you there. The original still played very good last time I booted the little beauty up. UT 2003/2004 was alright, but they lost some of the focus of the original (and it didnt quite have the Quake Vs UT rivalry going on for them either, which probably helped the original out a lot). The console UT's have just been a bit poor to be honest.

To be honest, I just wanted to start a Quake v UT conversation. It'd be like teh internets in 2000 all over again.

Bloody hell. Over 10 years. I feel old.

I think I may have worked out why I have made the shift to modern games so easily:

Modern games 1, old games nil!

Quake 3 always pissed me off since everyone used to run for the Rocket Launcher, making every other weapon next to useless. (Yes, Railgun kills with a 65k Modem? Don't THINK so)
Plus the Rocket splash damage was way way way too powerful.

Unreal Tournament was the better game. You needed skill. Not just a good memory.

When it comes to FPS's, a Timesplitters Future Perfect deathmatch is the only way to go.

Dual Flare Guns FTW!

Love sniping people with those from a great distance because they aren't very accurate which makes a long-distance hit feel like an achievement :)

I have to say I did enjoy Timesplitters 2. Who doesn't love a monkey with a gun/flame thrower/proximity mine :)
