What was your first online/network gaming experience?

Post by Stuart_c » Tue Feb 02, 2010 5:08 am

My first taste of network gaming was at college in '96, we used to play Duke Nukem 3D for hours on end in the computer rooms. That was till the tech guy found out and deleted it from all the computers along with all our created maps

My first taste of proper online gaming was on the Dreamcast playing F355 and Quake 3, really wish i'd gotten into Phantasy Star Online but never got round to picking it up while the servers were still busy :(

First networking experience was Stunt Car Racer on Amiga (guess that counts), we had plenty fun on that back in the day.

First online experience, Phantasy Star Online and nothing has beat it to this day. For the first 2 years it was an incredible experience. Anyone remember that clan called GUK (Ganja UK)? and one of their main members who used to make all them cheats! lol that's going back some.

Mine would have to be Midi Maze. Does that count?

Link-up PS1 Doom? Apart from that I've never really played a network game.

Quake III on the Dreamcast via 33k modem, 4 players - was a revelation!
Also on PC - Virtual Pool 3 (playing pool and chatting with yanks) and Unreal Tournament.

First LAN style game was Doom via linking my best mates PS1 together with mine.

First online game I played was Quake 3 on Dreamcast.

Serial link up : It was Populous II(great fun firebombing your opponent!)

Network : It was Doom II and Duke Nukem in 1996 I think. I loved Duke Nukem because you use the shrink ray and stamp on people. I also loved the freeze gun on it, and then just smash people!!! The original Quake was quite good as well!

Jedi Knight, down the phone line to my brother. Played it religiously for several months and fecked up my A levels because of it. Never looked back since.

That was mine too. It was such an amazing thing to be able to sit on my bed and play online games with my mates.

I also had Phantasy Star Online. What a bag of horse sh!t that game was!
