I'm currently running with -

A CR5400 with one 8gb Sandisk in it (and another ordered yesterday!) - works fine, no problems at all.

2 Official Sony Memory Sticks (1gb) out of my old mobile phones, no problems so far.
Another sony none-MG 1gb stick I've had for years, again no problems.

I formatted all of these via the PSP and NOT via Windows as I'd expereinced similar problems to the above when messing about with them for my 'phones - ALWAYS let the device do the formatting!

@ Zetr0 - yes mate, fully installed and dragging stuff off it now, just what I didn't need on Valentines weekend is a distraction like that!!! :)

Is the CD32 Collection really that big? I had no idea, I was about to start emulating it on the old Xbox, but all I have is CD32 ISO's...

So where's a good place to order a legit CR-5400 from? I've searched online and to my cynical eyes, all the sites selling it look dodgy ...

I erred on the side of caution and ordered it from Amazon. Although I'm waiting for the email from Amazon telling me that it's actually been ordered through a company that is run from a cargo container somewhere in Hong Kong.

If its cool when it gets here I'll let you know.

Edit: Yep, just got an email from Amazon. The CR-5400 is coming from www.purelygadgets.co.uk who sell it on their own site for 3 quid cheaper than their Amazon shop. I'm posting this to offer you all a little bit of schadenfreude

Yeah I looked at Amazon but noticed it was being sold by a third party so I gave it the swerve.

Also, where is a good place to buy MicroSD cards? I figured play.com as I usually buy memory from them, but they don't seem to sell them at all.

eBay sale - a CR5400 unit with 2x 16GB MSD's (total 32,000MB - 29.5GB aprox)

heres a hot linkie £61.17 (free Delivery)

Heres another - CR5400 unit with 2x 8GB (8,000MB) MSD's (Total 15.6GB)

heres a hot linkie £26.21 (Free Delivery)

Please note these are NOT my auctions / BIN's etc, they are posted here purely for information purposes - should that you BUY one of these items, its nothing, absolutely nothing, to do with me, it is between you and the seller..

Personally I would be more inclined to buy the CR-5400 at somwhere like play.com (pay that little extra for assurance)

VERY Good post, had me reachig for my 5400 in a panic as I rushed to check it - it's legit.

For the record, I got mine from that Purely Gadgets place thru Amazon, and have now bought 2 8Gb cards from different sellers - 1st one works great, 2nd one arrived this morning, will test later.

don't know what 'class' these cards are, I believe Class 6 is the best / quickest? Anyhoo, these Sandisks work fine for me...

Result. Can recommend them for future purchases (not affiliated/taking backhanders btw).

While we're here, all you dual-card-PSP-wielders, how to I go about using the 2nd card? Just format in the PSP again and drop stuff on, no jiggery pokery or witchcraft involved?

Cheers mike, as ever.

Guess I'll go with purelygadgets for the CR-5400. I wouldn't recommend using eBay for *anything* that can be bootlegged.

3 quid cheaper on their site, but they charge 3 quid for shipping so you haven't lost anything.

The CR-5400 turned up this afternoon. Swapped out the fake one making sure I put the Micro SD cards into the same slots. Massive improvement, where I was experiencing slowdown and juddering I get a far smoother display.

Looking at the two cards side by side you can immediately see the difference. Fake is of a decidedly inferior build, you can almost bend it in half pinched between thumb and forefinger. The real card has a thicker board inside meaning this is not possible.

When the Class 6 cards turn up I'll post if I see any further speed benefits.
