In the 90ties, I had an Atari Jaguar. Unfortunatelly there were not many good games for this system
Here are the best: Rayman, Iron Soldier, Tempest 2000.

On the PC, the 90ties were the time of the rise of 3D shooters and realtime-strategy-games (RTS).
The best RTS games were:
Warcraft II, Command & Conquer, Total Annihilation, Dark Reign, Starcraft.

My taste in games are maybe not too conventional, I always liked adventure games, never was that much into FPS and other action games, unless they were more arcade-style.

Adventure:
Little Big Adventure (aka Relentless)
Little Big Adventure 2: Twinsen's Oddysey
The Curse of Monkey Island
The Neverhood
Full Throttle
Grim Fandango
Diablo

building etc:
Transport Tycoon
Theme Hospital

action'ish:
Max Payne
Hitman: Codename 47

driving:
Death Rally
Carmageddon
Carmageddon 2

Rise of the Robots looked gorgeous but oh dear ... Ironically, RotR 2 was quite a good game but the first got such a bad name, no-one bought it.

In my list, I intentionally left off the Pro Pinball games except the first one. Based on the description of the PC to be used, I was thinking the later Pro Pinball games wouldn't run well. If they run decently on the machine, however, obviously they are highly recommended. Big Race USA is my favorite of the entire series though it suffers a lot of cases where you can lose your ball even though you've done nothing wrong.

I am a huge fan of all things pinball-related on the PC and am sad that Empire is no longer making the Pro Pinball games.

Giss, I love your avatar and I love the Little Big Adventure games. Well done.

Pinball-based PC games - remember Balls of Steel? Impressive one that, had a Duke Nukem table and everything!

I would suggest Might and Magic 3, 4+5 (4 and 5 together made the World of Xeen)
I personally always prefered Diablo to Diablo 2
I second the suggestion of Crusader: No regret and No Remorse although I have had trouble getting them to run on my DOS/W98 machine with the original CD's
Heroes of Might and Magic 2 and 3 are my personal favourites
I loved the original Thief cause it had one of the best stories ever and made me genuinely scared.
Betrayal at Krondor was great but be warned that the graphics have aged incredibly badly
Finally, I'd recommend The Incredible Machine. One of the best and most fun puzzlers ever.
