Yet another Retro Remake - This time its TOKI

Post by ShadowMan » Mon Nov 16, 2009 5:32 am

Toki is getting the remake treatment for the PC and Xbox 360. A nice comparison video is here:

I love the new background art shown so far, and the character graphics look nicely animated so far. I always loved the game on the Amiga so I'm looking forward to getting my hands on this one when its released. Looking at the comparison vid, was the arcade version always that slow? I swear the Amiga version played faster than that?

By the way, the same studio will do a remake of Joe & Mac after Toki is released. Looking forward to it, too. Loved the original!

Joe and Mac as well? Sounds good to me, thats another game I enjoyed on the Amiga back in the day.

Can't wait to see how Toki has held up difficulty wise. I remember the later levels being quite a pain for me to complete back in the day.

This looks fantastic.

Hopefully it will be a faithful reproduction but at the moment it looks brill.

Incidentally the video of the arcade game is running way slower than it actually should, not that it makes that much of a difference and perhaps it is only the footage.

Thanks for confirming that, I thought it seemed way slower than I remembered but its been so long since I've played the game I couldn't be sure.

Now, that's looking REALLY nice. :)

Will defiinitely get this, I've played Toki a fair amount on MAME over the last few years.

Sweet Mary, that LOOKS amazing! That old phrase, "like playing a cartoon", certainly can be applied here.

I'm addicted to the Lynx version at the moment, and've been playing the Mega Drive and NES version's too for comparision's sake. And now, yet another reason to think about considering maybe getting a 360, at some possible point in the future.

Very impressive. The gameplay remained exactly the same and I can't believe how polished the graphic appears in HD for the first time. Might like to give this one a go at some point.
