Good 2-player games on the Wii?

Post by station » Wed Oct 21, 2009 5:00 pm

Finally got round to buying a second remote for the Wii! Having played the "Wii Play" game which was a bit short (although the table hockey thing was very entertaining), I'm after some more that are GOOD. Ta!

Mario Kart Wii is great and well worth playing with mates. Split screen takes a little bit away from the view making the game a little more difficult. Still awesome though.

Geometry Wars 2 is also an excellent 2 player game on the Wii. I'm sure more will come to me.

Metal Slug Anthology is the way to go. Shouldn't cost you too much either - you really can't go wrong.

Boom Blox Bash Party, PES 2009, Wii Music and We Love Golf! all warrant a look too.

Super Smash Brothers Brawl is worth a mention; it's probably the most hardcore two player game on the machine.

Most of my best multiplayer moments on the Wii have been with Wii Sports/Resort (note that you'll need two Motion Plus units for the latter) and assorted daft party games though.

I found the tanks game on wii play great fun with two players, reminded me of Combat ot 2600.

Mario and Sonic at the olympic games is great fun, as are some of the mini games on Monkey Ball(this should be dirt cheap too)

The Wii version of Lego Star Wars is superb.

Trauma Center-New Blood can also be played by 2 players simultaneous, if you're looking for something different than the already mentioned shooters (RE:UC, HotD:Overkill, Dead Space,...).
Another game would be Alien Syndrome, but I wouldn't spend more than 10€ on that one.

Via WiiWare, you could also try Driift, Bit.Trip Beat and Bomberman Blast.

I played 2-player Madworld and didn't like it one bit. Haven't played it for a while but I recall Elebits having a fun multiplayer mode.
