cex no longer trade in gamecubes or xbox,ps2.

Post by Dan1980 » Sun Sep 27, 2009 5:27 pm

I went in to cex in kingston today to buy another xbox, (1st model) and the guy in there said they are to no longer accept them for trade in and said that they are not going to trade in xbox or gamecube games/consoles anymore.
and as if that was'nt bad enough he also said that by the end of the year they wont be trading in ps2 consoles or games either, even the guy at the counter said that was mad as games are still being made for the ps2.
i just hope i can still find places appart from e-bay to buy my games. :(

Didn't know what to expect until I heard that news. Does this also affect the CEX at Rathbone Place?

I have to pop down to my local CEX to see this is true.

I know the one in Leeds doesn't sell anything older than PS2. Neither do the two Game Station's that I went in. I'm having a tough time trying to find local retro retailers!

The Leeds one used to. I have picked up loads of PS1 games there.

Just had a quick browse on their website: http://www.cex.co.uk/

Apparently it still does the Xbox, Gamecube and PS2 console/games.

Muster up your biggest trump and see if they will trade that. Their line in stink is legendary.

(If I'm honest, I'm actually scared these days to go into CEX)

It's unfair to blame the homeless on the cex smell.

Popped into the main one in town last weekend - the PS2 games had been dramatically reduced and even less Xbox & GC games remaining these days too.

No loss to me anyhow, I very rarely spotted anything decent in there and probably won't bother going there again in a hurry. The fact that most of the pre-owned stuff they sell is more expensive than buying it brand new elsewhere is just ridiculous and puts me off the shop entirely.

You are a brave girl. Ever since the smell and the Emo-tangs behind the counter with more metal in their face than matter behind their ear, i just don't go in. Well, actually, since i discovered they ditched the retro museum in Rathbone place I haven't been in.

The one in Sheffield seems to be clearing its stock of the last generations games. Gamecube games are still a little overpriced but XBox games are dirt cheap (just have to make sure you check the discs). I go, if it all, on a Sunday as on any other days the queues are just horrendous.

On the bright side of things.
If I manage to get a job there I wont need to take a shower every day.(They say you can get used to a smell if you have to smell it every day)
But in my case that would be a bad idea as I will end up more like a hippy and I dont think they will allow the playing of prog rock
