Im skint at the mo cos im on the sick. So a good free game would be right up my street. Ive been on gog, steampowered etc but is there anything im missing? Cheers.

Dosbox + abandonware games and shareware are good, plenty of great games. Plenty of doujin shmups around, some demos and some freeware - Blue Wish Ressurection plus is a good example.

There are lots of good open source games all of which are free:

Wesnoth, Nexuiz, Neverball, TORCS, Flight Gear, FreeCiv, etc.
