Hullo,

I have just figured out how to get this thing working (in so far the game plays).

Well, I say game, when I fire up daphne, hit start, my chosen game loads and plays all the way thru like a cartoon!! I have no option for input.

Anyone else.....

1. Know what I'm talking about.
2. Had the same issue?
3. Know how to fix it??

Please help!!

Daphne is a laser disc emulator that runs games like Dragons Lair (if I am thinking of the same thing :? )

There's a launcher for it that makes things simpler.

i downloaded it expecting to play some laser disc games

but then i heard you actually needed to own the discs to play em???? whats the point of an emu if you need the discs?

on the input thing, are you sure you dont need to press the correct key at the correct time, you needed to with most laser disc games

all graphics no gameplay :P

You don't need the discs, just the right version of the MPEG files ripped from them. Like all emulators, the author simply states that for copyright reasons, you shouldn't download copies of games you don't own. They're not hard to find...

Does it play Mad Dog McCree?

That was quite entertaining in its own way

The Daphne website is here

From the first page of the online documentation:

DAPHNE is a Free laserdisc game emulator that allows one to play laserdisc arcade games on one's PC. Using DAPHNE, one can play the following laserdisc arcade games:

Astron Belt (Hitachi and Pioneer versions)
Badlands
Bega's Battle
Cliff Hanger
Cobra Command (multiple versions)
Dragon's Lair (US, LD-V1000 and PR-7820 versions)
Dragon's Lair II : Timewarp
Esh's Aurunmilla
Galaxy Ranger (Hitachi and Pioneer versions)
Interstellar
M.A.C.H. 3
Road Blaster
Space Ace (US)
Star Blazer
Super Don Quix-ote
Thayer's Quest
Us Vs Them
The main question everyone seems to want to know is whether you need a real laserdisc and a real laserdisc player to play games with DAPHNE.

The answer is you do NOT need a real laserdisc player to play games with DAPHNE. DAPHNE can emulate a real laserdisc player using mpeg files. However, if you happen to have a real laserdisc and a real laserdisc player, you CAN use them with DAPHNE.

No Firefox :(

It has a certain charm, though the DVD implementation of it is criminal.
Mad Dog, Dragon's Lair and Space Ace were all given away as covermounts on one of the X-Box mags a while back - one side of the disc had demos, the other was the game DVD playable with the remote.

That must be where I got Dragon's Lair from, the one that you can play on your dvd player. fun to watch the deaths, but thats about it.

I get most games running, of course not those which aren't fully implemented yet. Don't forget to make the framefiles for each game.

Because machines cost money and break.

I have a couple of Mega-CD games, I've only ever played them on the PC.

I had no idea there were so many of these games about. I never got on with dragons lair really , nice graphics but zero gameplay.
