Labyrinth Zone by Elfonso is a folk song about how much he hates the underwater levels in Sonic games. If you "do a Google" for Game Music 4 All, it's on there somewhere.

First game related single I ever got was Yellow Magic Orchestra's theme from Invaders. That must have been around '79. Crap, I'm old :(
I remember that! I used to love it as a kid. Can anyone remember a cover tape on C+VG with a song about the sega master system on it? Pretty good for amateur stuff.

Not exactly 'pop', but Bad Religion did a song entitled Frogger on one of their early EP's (Back to the Known) which uses (I think) a sample of the Arcade music at the beginning.

I've just had a flashback. Cathy Dennis tape free with Sega Power magazine! Did I imagine that?

UK:Resistance had that Sayga song up as an MP3 a couple of years ago. Oh, the laughs we had.

Didn't Everclear sample the Atari2600 Pac Man music on a song once?

Best ever video-game related song for me, although not quite pop, is Frank Black (of Pixies fame) with 'whatever happened to pong' - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-1vRCzZYGY

Ooh, good one, Clarance! Forgot about that one.

Also, the Pixies do "Theme From NARC".

Wow, that's a new one on me, and I like to think I know my Pixies stuff inside out.

Yep, that B-Sides album is probably my 2nd favourite "album" by them, it's THAT good!
Has a much superior version of River Euphrates on it, too.

I'm quite fond of Ignorance is Bliss by Jellyfish which reflects Bower's point of view on Princess Toadstool. A flash video of the song can be found here:
