Bootsale Bargains - Sunday 18th June

Post by Mad Gerald » Sun Jun 18, 2006 4:58 am

Returned from the bootsale this morning armed with some goodies.

Today I purchaaaaaased the following:

Boxed Sega Saturn with 2 controllers and 4 games - £10 (this is an original Saturn and so can play imports with the Datel adapter).
Namco TV game (the one with Pac-Man and Galaxian on it) - £1
MegaDrive TV game (the 6 game one) - £1
Blast Coprs - N64 (unboxed) - £2
Wipeout - Saturn (boxed) - £2

Anyone else pick up some bargains?

Bit quiet this morning but managed to get a N64 with 3 games , quake 2 , perfect dark , conkers bad fur day and an expansion pak plus 2 pads for £5.

Also not quite retro (yet) but a gamecube with 007 nightfire , star wars clone wars , starfox , wrestlemania x8 , zelda collectors edition and harvest moon for £22.

Hopeless day today but I did manage to get an empty N64 box (the guy who bought the console didn't want the box) for nothing.
Later in the day I found a tak place (where people dump their unwanted goods) and found Dune 2 for the PC complate with manual, reg card etc all in excellent condition also for free.

Sounds like a couple of good buys you got there mate. I would have snapped them up too.

Someone was flogging a GameCube for £20 with The Hobbit. I offered her £18 without the game. She accepted and then I spotted there was no A/V lead so I tried to get it for less, but she said no I'll bring it next week. Then not 30mins later, she'd put it back out on sale (no doubt hoping some mug would buy it without noticing the cable was missing).

Does anyone around the Cheshire area know of decent car boot sales to find games and so on? I don't go to many and the ones i have been to were pretty poor.

Would it be worth it to trek to the Warrington one does anyone know?

Nobody's likely to come forward and tell you, it just means someone else to snap up their bargains :(

Oli Lar depends which bit of Cheshire your in. Theres supposed to be a massive one in Knutsford which i've been told by quite a few people if you get there for about 6 its retro heaven for picking stuff up, although i haven't been to it yet.

Actually did a car boot today instead of buying. Despite the fact it started raining the second i started setting up still managed to make around £100. Gutting thing was seeing all the stuff people had bough when they were walking past.

not much today, just a copy of street racers for the saturn for £2!

last week was much better, got a(nother!) cdi, but this ones a cd-i 205, and a box of films and games for £20! a lot of the discs are test discs, as the guy's uncle used to work for philips!

saw quite a few retro-computers, as i almost bought a zx-81 until the woman said £25! no leads, just the speccy and the power pack! was tempted by one of 3 amigas as well!

That looks like the PC version of FF VII, which is much harder to find than the PS1 version. Good job!

See this is why I don't do boot sales. I'm always hungover on sunday mornings and rarely rise before midday.

These make my bargains pale in comparison!

Still, in my part of the world these games are exceptionally rare in the shops:

Sonic Mega Collection - for Gamecube - EUR6.99
Castlevania Double Pack - for Gameboy Advance - EUR29.99
