CDI Help needed please
Hi, i recently bought a philips CDI 450 (the console style one) from a charity shop (bargain at 2 quid with stacks of cds, video cartridge and a leather carry case) but i cant get the little blighter to work. It turns on, but the main screen just shows that the machine thinks the cd part is open, even if i close it it still says this. I have noticed that if i turn it on with the cd part open the laser moves for a second but thats it, cant get it to spin the cd after that.
Anyone got any ideas on how to fix this? is this a common problem?
Fingers crosses

Re: CDI Help needed please
Why should it spin it if it thinks the lid is open?

Re: CDI Help needed please
According to the AVGN they're pretty notorious for not working.
Re: CDI Help needed please
Is there a little catch/switch somewhere where the lid closes that tells the machine that the lid is closed?
Maybe that's broken and so the machine thinks the lid is always open even when closed.
Might be able to stick it down with a bit of blu-tak etc.

Re: CDI Help needed please
i've tried pushing the part down that tells the cd drive the lid is closed but i think its bust as it doesnt actually push down, i think the laser drive itself must still work as it spins for a second each time it comes on, think i may open it up and have a nosey inside, if i cant get it to work (which i suspect will be the case) then i think its going on ebay for spares.

Re: CDI Help needed please
Can you not bypass that switch, just to test if the motor works or not?

If Jesus were to ever play a working CDI/Zelda Wand of Gamelon he would lose his faith in God.
Re: CDI Help needed please
YAY!! good news, took the thing apart and the switch that starts the cd motor when the lid is down was stuck somehow, so took it out and put it back and it all works fine now. Quite good finally being able to play it, only problem though is that pretty much all the games are rubbish to say the least
Has anyone ever played pinball on it?
Now i just need to track down mad dog mcree.
Can anyone recommend some good cdi titles to get?
cheers
