That's because you've never owned the R-Zone!Darran@Retro Gamer wrote:With so many threads going off the rails or springing up due to Apple's machine, I've created a dedicated thread to the best handheld I've ever owned.

Only in the sense that N-Gage was another capable platform that far too many people dismissed because of its ties to the mobile industry. That said, I think Apple's devices have eclipsed that. Hell, even Nintendo's starting to recognise Apple as competition.globalsunset wrote:Does the whole gaming bit remind anyone else of Nokia's Ngage?
For me, it depends on the games. There are very few games with 'digital' controls that work on the platform, due to the nature of the touchscreen. Exceptions are ones where placement isn't an issue (such as pinball) or where timing isn't critical (swiping in Pac-Man, since you decide on a direction before you get to the next corner). I also think that devs are taking time to get used to what they can do. I largely hated all racing games on the platform, and yet Real Racing gets it largely right. The game's not OutRun 2, but it's fun, and that's mostly down to the great care taken with the controls.I tried Mega Man on the iPhone (free demo download) and the controls urked me. I'll stick with my DS/R4 combo.
