Space Invaders Infinity Gene has been released, and it's proper awesome. It's perfect for the iPod touch and I don't think it would work any better on the other hand-helds, but it's the sort of game you would be happy to own for one of them, if that makes sense. I guess I'm saying that it's the first touch exclusive game I've played that feels like a proper, full game. Not bad for AUD$5.99. (I don't know how much it is in your screwy currency. :P )

In other news, don't get MGS Touch; it's not very good.

That's because you've never owned the R-Zone!

Oh, and thanks for recommending Droplitz; I was looking for a way to make my days 73% less productive.

This is quality....

I have now purchased Monkey Island SE, and I cant put it down!!!
Flash Back is a good conversion but the controls are poor, especially if you have fat digits..... :D

I will be getting Q'bert as well.
Thanks for the heads up regarding these games!!

iShift and Dungeon Defence is also worth a look.

Played West Bang for the whole 2.5 hour train journey down to London today. What a superb game that is.

Don't be daft!!! Modern trains have plug sockets, thank god.

Actually there was free wi-fi too so I did check my emails a few times too.

It depends entirely on the app you're running. You can play hours of some games and it doesn't dent the power too badly, whereas others suck the battery like an electronic vampire.

Giant Metal Robot and Taxiball both look promising.

Apple's entry into the gaming market hasn't done it for me. But I love my iPhone regardless.
Does the whole gaming bit remind anyone else of Nokia's Ngage (but lots better, of course.....)?

I tried Mega Man on the iPhone (free demo download) and the controls urked me. I'll stick with my DS/R4 combo.

Only in the sense that N-Gage was another capable platform that far too many people dismissed because of its ties to the mobile industry. That said, I think Apple's devices have eclipsed that. Hell, even Nintendo's starting to recognise Apple as competition.

For me, it depends on the games. There are very few games with 'digital' controls that work on the platform, due to the nature of the touchscreen. Exceptions are ones where placement isn't an issue (such as pinball) or where timing isn't critical (swiping in Pac-Man, since you decide on a direction before you get to the next corner). I also think that devs are taking time to get used to what they can do. I largely hated all racing games on the platform, and yet Real Racing gets it largely right. The game's not OutRun 2, but it's fun, and that's mostly down to the great care taken with the controls.

524,986 for HC, 270,234 for Normal, and 241,520 for Sequence.
