Cool i'll try it out

Sadly another week for me with no games purchased. In the old days i would get 5 or so a week, now its freemium crap or just average games. Nothing standing out for me. Suppose i should play the 500+ games i've got on my phone instead !

Seriously though hope its just a blip, heard from a few fellow iOS fans that the last 6 months has been poor compared to how the app store was a few years back.

Super phantom cat ... jumpin-bro

Just come out. Brilliant retro style platformer. Controls are superb. Lots of content. Not freemium crap. Well worth picking up

Power Hover ... 73723?mt=8

Nice style of what you could say a running game. Controls are left/right, lots of different types of levels judging from the gameplay video. Very smooth graphics, only played a bit of it so far and its great

The East New World ... 67546?mt=8

Bit of 'chingrish' issues here and there but so far its a great action/RPG/platformer. Well worth picking up

After the odd quiet week the last couple of games i've bought have been great, specially Super Phantom Cat (post before)

Tomb of the Mask ... mpt=uo%3D4

Looks like Speccy graphics, free to try (69p to get rid of ad's). Swipe left/right/up/down to move around, get coins, keep moving before the bottom half (water ?) gets you. Not bad at all, shame to continue you have to use your coins you pick up or if you havent got enough its 'watch an ad'. But for a freebie its really good

Out of nowhere comes (finally) a huge update to the Vectrex app

New original games added, new indie game added. More tweaks etc. MFI support

The Vectrex app alone is worth getting an icade if you've got an ipad. Great to play these old classics.

Is this the Elite style game we've been looking for ?

Stellar Wanderer ... ?mt=8&uo=4

Only had a quick go this morning, looks great, can go from cockpit view to ship view. There is a main storyline but you can go off the beaten track and mine stuff, go after pirates etc. Looking forward to playing this much more later

I'll have to give that one a go, I just upgraded to an iPhone 5 last week (Mrs Ant bought a 6, so I got her cast offs again).

Hopefully its at least as good as Galaxy on Fire 2, as I spent hours on that one.

^Yeah people have been very positive about it, on the Touch Arcade thread a few ex GOF2 players said this is great. Looking forward to giving it a big go later

Just come out...

Rayman Classic ... 16705?mt=8

None of this freemium crap ! Its a premium priced game, $4.99 but its worth it for this gem. I do have this on one of my emulators but happy to purchase the official version. Do love having these classics on my phone !

Tennis Champs Returns ... 18595?mt=8

Apparently an old Amiga game. People have been raving about this on iOS so it seems to play really well, need to play this later as well. Looks really good

Now gone FREE (might just be today), well worth picking up. Excellent horizontal Cave shooter, bullet hell ! Its a great game, tons of bullets, baddies, levels.

Old skool platformer, Metroid-ish style game. Its free to try (has a few ads), £3.99 to get rid of ad's and let the dev have something. So far so good, picked up an item to jump, then soon after an item to be able to push things. Enjoying it, you have to save at computer terminals but so far thats not been too bad.

9th Dawn II ... 17689?mt=8

LOVED the first game, to me it was the best 'Ultima' style game on iOS. The sequel looks even better. Yeah its not a cheapy 99p type game but its well worth picking up, huge world to explore, side quests, a main quest, tons of loot/monsters etc. Love it

As i say pick up the first game if you havent played it before but this is a great RPG to have on your phone

Goo Saga ... mpt=uo%3D4

A great looking platformer, very polished, the graphics are great and it plays well. Well worth picking up specially as its not some freemium tosh

Stellar Horizon ... mpt=uo%3D4

An indie dev has created this homage to Elite. So far so good, took a while to get into (as theres no initial help intro or that) but its a great game, land on a space station to buy stuff or sell things. Or once you've landed on a space station you can then go to the planet (a few views) to look and mine for things. The devs updating it all the time so its pretty good. A nice small filesize as well

Been a while since i've posted in here. Been lost of good premium priced games recently, a shift away from the 'often' crappy freemium games.

One huge huge annoying thing to an ios fanboy like me who has tons of apps on his phone - When ios 11 comes out in September 32 bit games wont work anymore. You know those apps where you start them and they appear with 'the developer needs to update this...' that means unless its updated it wont work later on which is a major nightmare. I like 'app dipping' and having a quick go of so many apps but i'll lose a lot of old favourites. My fault in a way for not playing them tons to completion when i originally got them instead of 'hoarding' but frustrating.

But theres been a lot of great premier priced games, heres some...

Arkanoid vs Space Invaders

By Square Enix, i'm so glad its not freemium, works really well. Basically deflect the invaders shots back up to hit them. Very polished game

Ghouls n Ghosts

What Capcom have done (used to be one app) is have seperate apps now for some old classics. Already out is 1942 (controls well), Commando (not so good) and Ghosts n Goblins. I'm hoping the other two will be updated, there are various control methods but it doesnt 'save' your option which is a pain. Ghouls n Ghosts does. Rock hard game though but it does have an easy option which helps. For a quid to have this on your phone its great

Nice retro style shoot em up, controls very well

Chroma Squad

Nice turn based game with retro style graphics. Been a huge hit on Steam

Lode Runner 1

New revamped version with new graphics, much better than the original on ios as the controls are good and it plays really well

Old Mans Journey

A great looking new game, you change parts of the background so the guy can go on his journey. Quite a 'relaxing' game

Bit like Myst, touch the screen to find objects to continue your path. A nice puzzle style game.

Other games i've recently bought...

TitanQuest - Great conversion, loving this, tons of content
Planescape Torment - Never played this before, would recommend ipad though, too small for the phone
Citadal 1986 - Nice retro style C64 looking platformer
Penarium - From Team 17, nice single screen arcade game
To the Moon - Point n cilck, very polished adventure gaem
Die With glory - Point n click, you have to try and 'die' (you're a viking). Again very good
Space Jetpac - Obviously not a legal copy of Jetpac but it plays alright and its good to have on your phone

I'm gutted about Apple getting rid of 32 bit apps, many wont be updated as obviously those old apps dont make a profit anymore so i'm sure devs wont spend money on updating them. Some will but not 'lesser hits'. But the amount of premium apps coming out now is great, theres one out next week which looks a bit like a Rogue Squadron style of game, cant wait to get that.

Best $10 i've spent ? Its signing up to for a year, can then install (non jailbreak) the apps and emulators they have. Love the emulators !

I'm about to finally upgrade my iphone 4S.
A lot my games are older games, and I wondered if I got a larger screen iphone, would there be a way to go full screen with those games or would I be stuck with black borders at the side?
If black borders I may go for the iphone SE.

Why has this thread gone dead?
Has paid add-ons killed IOS gaming?
