Yeah i'm loving my iphone 6. Too many games on the iphone 4s werent working properly as it was outdated.

Once i got my iphone 6 i went for some of the 'heavyweights'...

Tales from the Borderlands
Radiation Island
Baldurs Gate
Star Wars Knights of the old Republic
Grand Theft Auto San Andreas
Bioshock
X-Com
Battle Supremacy and quite a few others

Very impressed with the iphone 6, being a 'app horder' i'm glad i also went for the 128 gig version!

Theres quite a few sites now offering emulators for non jailbroken phones, eg http://builds.io/

I signed up with them $10 a year. Retroarch isnt working properly (they're fixing it) but very happy with the other emulators, no 'date fix' to be done, just install them. Got a gameboy emulator, SNES/Megadrive, NES. Theres also a NDS emulator and of course MAME

Also 'powerdos' is available on the app store. Been playing some old favourites on that including Dark Forces so i'm happy about that

Basically devs can create test apps and allocate users to them. So what they're doing here is basically setting up a dev account, publishing emulators and then people who pay $10 will be one of the 'testers' so they can get the apps

Played a LOT of seasons in this. You can play the game like a manager and sim the games but the gameplay is great, never been a fan of FIFA (and a high filesize), this game just plays so well. You have the european cups, FA cup, 38 games in the premiership (or more in the championship).

I only bought a cheap IAP to get rid of the ad's. Didnt need to buy coins to upgrade my team, just used my own over time. Best 'match day' game i've played on iOS, love it
hahah you and bloody Match Day, mate!

Here's my recommendation, get a 3DS, vita or anything else for playing games!

Actually, I find a lot of mobile games are retro in spirit. There are a lot of similarities with the 8 bit era. I'm guessing due to the 'limited' hardware (well, app sizes) and smaller nature of the developers.

Obviously a lot of individuals from the 80s are involved in developing as well.

I like the whole bedroom coder stuff with mobile gaming. Lots of retro graphics as well in lots of games.

I also love the whole 'Swiss army knife' side to mobile gaming. I can call people. Read books/comics/magazines/surf the Internet/play music and films/get any files from Dropbox I want/emulators/listen to podcasts/connect my phone to my car to listen to stuff/access my PC from my phone etc

If a DS or Vita could do all of that I would get one. They obviously can't

Some nice games out recently...

Magic Rampage
http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=258419

Nice 'Metroidvania' style action platformer. Freemium but seems very light on having to buy anything. Well worth trying

Tiny Dangerous Dungeons
http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=258488

69p platformer done in a gameboy style. So far so good !

Duck Tales - Remastered
http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=258562

Pricey at about 8 quid but it is a 'console style platformer' and its a huge game. Totally redone graphics, plays very well. Big file size but its great to see polished platformers like this on iOS

Yeah i know. I must admit the game looks great and the music is brilliant.

Apple increased maximum app filesizes from 2 gig to 4 gig so i think in the future there'll be lots of huge games coming to iOS. I'm happy i've got a 128 gig phone !

Elite-ish game, lots of combat mostly, great graphics, Worth picking up

Devious Dungeon 2
http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=259011

Galxy on Fire is one of my most played iOS games. Any idea if Rogue Star will run on a 4S? I suspect not, looks fairly advanced with lots of particle stuff going on.

(forum won't let me quote psj3809) RE: Duck Tales - Remastered

Haven't really kept up with iOS games. Do recent games like this support bluetooth controllers?

How about a game screenshot quiz? Amiga, DOS, Megadrive and Commodore 64.

It says ' BLUETOOTH controller supported ' on the app store description

Must admit i havent got a controller to test it. I'm hanging onto hope that the next 'rumoured' Apple TV allows you to download apps from the app store onto it. Be a huge game changer if you can play the games directly to your TV.

I might try and get a cheap controller to test the emulators

Finished up Dragon Quest, great old-shool RPG. Just purchased Dragon Quest 2, looking forward to seeing what that adds. Crossy Road had an update, the new schoolgirl character's sfx raised a smile, straight out of Little Britain. :)

Hi Guys,

I've been out of the loop for a while.
My 2nd Gen ipod touch died, and I replaced it with an ipad mini,
but found after a while I wasn't using it for retro-gaming.
I think it's just too big.

So got myself a new 16gb 5th gen ipod touch for £109, and loving it.

Anyway, got a load of games I downloaded from last time I had a ipod, but that was a couple of years ago.
So since then, any good games come out similar to these:
Thurst/Sub-Terrania type
Dropzone/Defender type
Boulderdash type
8-bit platforming
8-bit racing games (like 8-bit rally)
Top-down racers (like Vs Racing 2)
PGA Golf type
Sensible Soccer type

Cheers.
