Golf Games

Post by jdanddiet » Wed Apr 22, 2009 8:36 am

I don't believe this has been discussed before...what's everyone's favourite video incarnation of the sport-that-ruins-a-good-walk, Golf. I have never been interested in the sport but always liked playing it on the various systems i have owned.

Intellivision: Golf - bit sh!t now if I'm being honest, but had great fun back in the day. Overhead game, your golfer was a little line and it made lots of "tocking" noises when you hit into the trees!
Spectrum: Leaderboard (usgold i think) - always seemed the best graphically and playability.
Megadrive: PGA European Tour - loved this, so easy to play yet totally addictive. Plus also PGA tour 3.
Gameboy - golf - never really got on with it
PC - played some golf game or other but can't remember it's name

Have heard wii golf is good fun but don't have wii...

World Class Leaderboard-C64
PGA 2 onwards on the Megadrive
Everybodys Golf-PS1
Tiger Woods 2002 onwards PS2/360

I love my golf games!! I've played some stinkers over the years including Golf Construction Kit which was just a mess.

Mario Golf on the GBA

Bought a dodgy "50-in-1" gba cart for 50euros in Tenerife a few years back and this was on it, totally addictive.

I used to really like Golfmania on the Master System it had speech and everything but my favourite golf game has to be Everybody's Golf on the PSP. I plays a great game of golf, doesn't take itself too seriously, and is perfectly suited to quick short sessions whilst on the move. Very cheap too :D

I played an Atari 7800 game yesterday under emulation called Ninja Golf, and I have to say it was quite good fun, despite being an extremely rudimentary golf 'sim' tacked onto a mediocre Kung Fu Master variant with dodgy (but thankfully overly generous) collision detection. It's a bit of a laugh but ultimately not blessed with a lot of longevity, I don't think!

Check my Golf thread here:

I ended up buying Everybodys Golf for the PS3. Its a splendid little game and I heartily recommend it.

For retro it has to be Microprose Golf.

PGA Tour games on Megadrive. Unrivalled in gameplay, IMHO.

EA could top them with the Tiger Woods series if they brought back the "3-button-press" swing system.
And WTF is up with being able to spin the ball after you've hit it!?!?!?!

I hope nobody says Wii Sports Golf either.........

I'd love to see a feature on Golf games :)

My all-time favorite is the Links series on PC but I love stuff like Mario Golf on the GameCube too. I'm actually semi-actively collecting all golf games for all systems.
