Who gets collection urges?

So I'm sitting here tonight, thinking of a handheld electronic games feature and looking at machines like Astro Wars, Munch Man, BMX Flyer and quite a few other games I used to own as a kid and I've now decided that I need to own as many of these machines as possible.

Never mind the fact that I have an impressive N64, SAturn and Dreamcast collection that I never bother with...

Does anyone else have unnatural urges when it comes to collecting and what do you do to feed quell it?

ive built up an saturn collection along with amiga accelerator cards that are worth a small bit

I often get collection urges, but I find an shopping spree on ebay usually quells it

Pretty much hits the nail on the heed.

+1 for that, also I try to gather any publications for whatever machine I have a notion to collect for. Which is why I can't get into my loft for ST Formats and CU Amigas

Also it sometimes pays to fire off a quick Freecycle request. Case in point being 2007, when I asked for any old Amiga A500 and one great guy gave me THREE A4000s (in various states of disrepair).

No different to women buying their hundredth pair of shoes or whatever, many forum members admit they have more games turn they'll ever get around to playing. About time Darren we saw some pics of your retro stuff, wonder if you have more ps3 games than me?

I do get collection urges but not really for consoles and games, comics and action figures mainly and as SirClive said ebay usually sorts me out or shows me that I'll never likely own any of the stuff that I want.

There are times I feel more enjoyment from buying new games than I do from playing them!
I've got an enormous pile of DC/GC/SNES/PC games that I've never actually played, but
I get comfort from the fact that they're ther if I need them!

Collecting handhelds is a great idea , the only problem is finding somewhere to store them all; but they are a medium which truly is not
satisfied by emulation
