Sunday's bootsale bargains - 28th May

Post by Mad Gerald » Sun May 28, 2006 11:33 am

Today was a most excellent day for retro bargains.

Today I picked up...

1x Sega Saturn (mint) with 2x controllers (inc. 1 3D pad) and SCART lead in a carry bag for £5

1x Sega Game Gear in carry bag and also accessory pack £8

1x GameBoy £3 (not the best deal as someone beat me to one for £2 with game, PSU and magnifier)

Well chuffed with the Saturn as my old one broke back in January.

Other stuff on offer ST games, Speccy games, usual N64 stuff.

Anyone else grab any bootsale bargains today?

Damn, that would have been some hoard! Didn't see any SNES / Megadrive or earlier today :(

Your SNES buy was today's top deal me thinks. Unless anyone can top that.

Nothing special but did get a boxed Saturn memory card for £1.50. Someone was selling a boxed Saturn for £10 and a boxed N64 with 2 games for £15.

I managed to get a C64 with accessories and games this weekend.

Got it home to try it out, worked fine for about 5 mins then the picture went funny and then the power light went out. I left the room for a few mins to get something and returned to see the power pack smouldering away and the plastic was starting to melt !

Had to get it out of the house pretty quick and dumped it in the back garden.

Tried another power supply and now all is well !!!

I hate you all. I went to a bootsale today and the only thing of worth was one stall with a cardboard box stuffed full of PlayStations and one very dirty Dreamcast with no leads. I didn't even ask how much it was.

Why have I never seen anything decent at a bootsale EVER?

Having said that, I won a new PS2 copy of Gunbird Special Edition on eBay today - for the princely sum of 1p. P&P is only £1.49 as well, so that's cheered me up a bit.

I didn't manage to get to any car boot sales this weekend. I was fed up this morning, I had to do bank holiday cover and on the way to work I drove past an enormous car boot sale which I've been eager to goto for the past month or so but keep missing it!

Never mind, I got paid time & two thirds which made up for it abit.

I might be able to try the local one this weekend.

Yes have had a C64 before and have two 1541 disk drives here. I managed to get a XE1541 cable a while ago so I will get round to getting some games onto disk to play on a real C64.

Funny, I'm the biggest fan of the Speccy and I hated the C64 back in the day but I must admit that am starting to come around to the 64 and I'm also quite fond of the C16/+4 for no reason at all !

Saying that tho I'll prob get the biggest slagging off from the Speccy camp !

Bootsales around here are rubbish. Someone tried to flog me a Gamboy Advance which was missing the screen once...

I did have a Spectrum 48k off some bloke. I didn't want it, but he gave me a fiver to take it off his hands... turned out his wife had bought him a proper solid oak doorstop wedge, so he didn't need the Speccy anymore...
As requested by the Tw@t himself - his account was Hijacked and has had a change of password.

Sorry Dexter!
