Best Disney game

Post by BenOut » Tue Apr 07, 2009 11:31 am

Remember when Disney games were not always a guaranteed dollop of doo?
You do? Oh good! Well which of those good Disney game was your favorite?

I'd have to say that as good as Aladin and Castle of Illusion are I'd have to go for Quackshot on the MD.
The music, the map based level select, Donald being able to hold his breath under water for longer than Sonic or Ecco, the whole weapon/item progression adding a slight RPG like element to the game.

It's only a shame that the bosses were not so meh.

Much as I'd like to be original and suggest Dark Shadow, that game was actually a great steaming dollop of poop. So I'll say Aladdin, followed by Castle of Illusion and Mickey Mania. There ye go.
My comics blog (mostly lesser-known UK stuff from the 80s and 90s)

I'm actually going to vote for something more recent; Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2.

duck tales on the gameboy was good, loved castle of illusion (and world) would probably say Aladdin was the best but the competition for the greatest in the 16 bit era is a close one.

Quackshot, World of Illusion or Lucky Dime Caper. I can't separate them.

Castle of Illusion remains my favourite.

Being not enamoured with Disney I don't seek them out (well after the Mega Drive). Kingdom Hearts are good though, fun and Tron and Nightmare Before Christmas turn up.

Toy Story Racer on the PS1. My daughter and I play this and not only does it look good and play well it's actually one of the most cut-throat games I've played. Get past the cute Toy Story theme and it brings out the worst in people on a par with Mario Kart :)

Oh and my daughter rates Monsters Inc and Mickeys Wild Adventure for PS1 as well ;)
Cue the music, fade to black...

I'm going to champion Pinocchio and The Little Mermaid II Pinball Frenzy. If you think I'm being ironic, you haven't seen my list of Retrobates entries.

I love Quackshot and Duck Tales and have a soft spot for Goof Troop, as well as Tigger's Honey Hunt on N64 and Pooh and Tigger's Hunny Safari on GBC, if only because they star Tigger.

After playing Castle of Illusion for the Let's play thingy I went back and played Mickey's Magical Quest on the SNES only to find it hasn't aged as well :(

Ultimately, the Kingdom Hearts games win.

Tron 2.0 counts, right? I also used to like World of Illusion on the MD but I'm generally not a fan of Disney.
