first game ever finished? (without cheating)

Post by jb1014 » Sun Mar 01, 2009 6:30 am

I was reminded of mine when reading the tony crowther interview in this month's rg - son of blagger! I recall it required precisely timed jumps. The way you moved around and the screen moved around you was great. OK, the game was painfully slow, but the ability to try things out, wait and work it out was an advantage. I think the way you moved from room to room was also really interesting, not something I've seen in a game since. This was followed very shortly by bruce lee which, to my mind, was one of the best c64 games of all time.

Mine was Fantasy World Dizzy on my Speccy. I used to play it repeatedly trying to finish it as quickly as possible.

without cheating? think it was Brain Training ha! seriously it was Super Mario on the nintendo took me a few weeks though. at the moment im practically cheating on Professor Layton Curious Village for DS coz i need every single hint to help me with many of the puzzles and im only on puzzle 15! theres something about it that patronises me and makes me feel like a total dunce, or else i could just be bad at puzzles :(

Police quest 1 (EGA not the remake), I didn't get all the points but I did do it all myself........okay I admit I snuck a few looks over my dads shoulder but a six year old needs help sometimes and thats not cheating.

That game killed me too, my GF got almost to the end, I barley got into the town, I ended up cheating mega time, the only reason was I just had no patience for sitting there working it all out on some paper then answering it she did.

I can't quite remember which one I completed first but it's between Super Mario Bros 2 and Super Mario Bros 3 on the NES.

Probably Wizball.

I think it was Espionage Island (a text adventure) on the ZX81. It might have been Planet Of Death though (another text adventure). Was playing them simultaneously and can't remember which one I finished first. This was a long way back. So long ago that it might not even have been Planet Of Death. It's a possibility that Ship Of Doom was in the mix.

But I think it was Espionage Island.

I think it was Turtles for the Amiga, at least that is the oldest I can remember completing without cheating.

it's really really sad - but you know - I cannot remember... Would beating my brother to 20 on a Binatone Pong console count?? (although I did cheat by pulling faces as we played)

Was probably mario on the gameboy. I played that game to death! or maybe it was moonwalker on the megadrive.
I'm a Portsmouth FC Fan. Please, go easy on me.

Really don't remember exactly, but I'll go with Barbarian II.

Donkey Kong on an arcade machine whilst my family were on holiday in Majorca when I was 5, not sure if that counts though because it just loops at the end of the fourth screen.
