Most Hopeless Charity Shop Pricing/ incidents

Post by Timothy Lumsden » Thu Jan 29, 2009 6:44 pm

just for fun (and to accompany the ebay rare thread) - what's the most amusing charity shop pricing you've seen? (can be too cheap or too expensive).

I'm sure there's some crazy charity shops game buying stories out there.

Most common with me is when they see a double disc in a PS1 game box and try to charge for '2 games'

Not a pricing story...but...
Was in a charity shop in Larne a few weeks ago and spied a whole box of Speccy games.
'How much for the games' i asked the 97 year old lady in the shop.
'Oh the videos' she replied. 'They are £1 each'
25 minutes later i was still trying to persuade her that they were not videos but old computer game cassettes. I even took a few out of the boxes to show her that they weren't videos but oh no she insisted that they were.
Bought them anyway after an offer of £10 for the whole box. Some good titles though.

I often see FIFA PSone games for £4.99 in charity shops  . I think they throw them out eventually.

My local shops are full of filthy PS1 consoles dumped in curver boxes with a few wrecked games of no value whatsoever.

I have found some good things though; Complete copies of Sega Rally and Sonic R for £1.50 each for example. Needless to say, I bought them :D

One of our charity shops last year had a copy of Streets of Rage for the Megadrive in the window.

I looked at the sticker - £26

Just a coincidence or not , but i paid £26 to exchange my world cup italia 90 for streets of rage in 92.

Best charity shop - snow bros on md for 50p , worst - the ninja on ms for £9.99
Luxor the moonprince - Doomguard Slayer

Sounds like you've been around my local charity shops as well although they do sell PC games for around £8-10, those that can be bought new for a couple of quid. Still, I'll keep looking..

I'm sorry, but I don't see the point of pricing things so that nobody buys them, how does that make any money?

That's a question that GAME/Gamestation would do well to ask themselves.....

I think its mostly down to the fact the lovely folk who work in charity shops dont know what it is theyve got infront of them.

Just clicked on your youtube link and watched the video there, very amusing but very controversial about people who dont like wrestling games (or wrestling !)

Funny though !
