Just one Arcade Machine!!

Post by Sir Arthur » Thu Jan 29, 2009 6:50 am

If there was no other means of playing Video Games at home and you where given the choice of owning One Arcade Video Game what would it be and Why?

I had to think really really hard about this, I thought Out Run, New zeland Story, Bubble Bobble and as much as I love Ghost N Goblins I found I was left with two games in Mind, Wonder Boy & Wonder Boy In Monster Land.

I have decided to go for the Original Wonder Boy as I loved this game more than any other, the Gameplay, Graphics & Sound are all spot on IMHO.

Love it, and if I ever get the chance to play it again via Xbox Live or the Arcade I will be a very happy man. I have the master system version but its not a patch on Arcade game. :D

House of the Dead Cabinet, the one with the shotguns as me and wife played it a few times in our care free days.

Marvel Super Heroes. Absolutely love the game to pieces and boot it up every few weeks to clear the game with all the characters. It looks great, sounds great and most of all plays perfectly.

I thought about this for awhile, trying to think of a game I never got bored of, and only one game came to mind......

That says it all really.

super demensional/space fortress Macross - banpresto........I love this shoot em up, and the intro is spot on, I could leave it in attract mode all day.....

Image - not the most action packed screen shot buts its a solid blaster...

or point blank, namco, 2player of course, you set the bar, your mate beats it, pretty much endless fun.....

Had to narrow it down to 3, but will probably think of more great ones later!

Virtua Racing (2 player sit down)
Dayton USA (2 player sit down)
Super Sprint (3 wheel version)

If it had to be one arcade machine then as you can see i would go for a racing game as i feel they can be played countless times more than most genres without getting repetitive as much.

Nintendo Playchoice 10, get 10 games in 1 and like Shadowman I already own one.

Just never get a chance to play it.

If only one single cab allowed would be Tehkan World Cup. Mainly for nostalgic reasons but fun to play.

Trackball built up arm muscles nicely, being a young teen around that time it came in very shandy.

Probably Robotron 2084. There are lots of more attractive machines and, while I do have a real soft spot for arcade racers like Outrun and Ridge Racer, I think Robotron would get more play.

Can I just have Spectrum with 3D Deathchase?

If it had to be an arcade cab then I would go either Outrun (deluxe) or R-Type.

Virtua Striker 2 ver.98 - I put a LOT of quids in that at the time! Great footy game and liked it so much I even went as far as buying the soundtrack for 1&2.

Good shout about Wonder Boy, an underrated gem in my opinion, but my choice would be Bubble Bobble, no question...
