What's the deal with the Streets of Rage series?

Post by David » Tue Dec 30, 2008 4:45 am

How come it never appears on any of these compilation games that come out?

How come it's never received a new update unlike almost every other sega game ever made?

I thought Die Hard Arcade/Dynamite Cop was supposed to be Streets of Rage 4?

Ah.....Dynamite Cop. Not many games let you beat a man to death with a loaf of bread

There's also Beats of Rage, a lovely (and, on most platforms, free) homebrew version of (I think) Streets of Rage 4 using KOF sprites.

I have it on my modded Xbox and it plays wonderfully.

After the updated golden axe and the likes of final fight streetwise I'm sure most sega fans are relieved no update of streets of rage is on the cards.

Thank god they kept it as Fighting Force otherwise they would have ruined the Streets of Rage series. Fighting Force was extremely disappointing. I had it for Christmas on the PS1 way back when, played and completed it before lunch time. Haven't touched it since.

They must have realised it isn't as good as Final Fight so couldn't be bothered.

Also check out the excellent Streets of Rage Remake. Does exactly what it says on the tin.
Why retro? Because you never forget your first love.

Only Streets of Rage II is worth the effort, as good as Final Fight me thinks.

Fighting Force was a Core Design game.

Dynamite Deka/ Die Hard Arcade was originally SoR4 as far as I know.

Gotta love the noise you get when you boot someone in the love-spuds :D

I love Fighting Force... I'm a big fan of this kind of game, I admit it, but I thought it was a decent game.
I have yet to try Final Fight Streetwise, but if I find it good, then it's a sign I'm no judge when it comes to this kind of game!
