Dizzy - The Lost Island

Working on a 3D Dizzy remake for Retro Remakes competition,
took a break from coding collision detection and gave Dizzy a copy of Retro Gamer. :)

I loved the dizzy games, simple but fun.

You will need to let us know if you manage to post a video of it in action.

Load 60, page 104...

Darran gives Dizzy the once over-

"Too much wandering around large, empty levels..."
Yeh, this being our first 3D game and with the time limit of the Remakes competition
(we also entered a second game "Sewer Shark 8-bit") alot of ideas were cut, like the
planned tree house section similar to Treasure Island Dizzy and alot more pickups.

"...drab and lacks the cartoon vibrancy that was so obvious in the original 2D games..."
3D model formats and polygon counts are not as much fun as pixels are
(read Darran`s "Loading..." intro for Load 60, very true!) but taking Dizzy into 3D
is tricky and possibly why he`s not had a PS/Xbox outing so
with Lost Island we went for a more calm/peaceful look.

Warning, Darran ends with a egg joke! :D

Reviewing homebrew stuff is always difficult :(

You appreciate the fact that these games are often done in the person's spare time or with limited resources, and yet you still want the end product to be as good as possible.

I did enjoy the Dizzy imagination, but I fell my comments were fair. Having said that I can't wait for another one.
