Find of the year

Post by Guybrush » Thu Nov 27, 2008 7:38 am

I always check out my local British Heart Foundation (Books and Music) for retro games. It normally have a handful of PC games and some generic sports titles for the XBox or PS2.

Yesterday however, I noticed an XBox 360 game box and picked it up to reveal it was a copy of FarCry 2. Well I don't have a 360 so I nearly put it back but the price tag caught my eye. How much do you think for a newly released (albeit secondhand) 360 game? £20? £30?

That's right, it cost me three quid.

I ended up giving it to my nephew who is 360 mad, he's been unwell and unhappy recently so I thought it'd cheer him up. I must admit it was a tossup between this and selling it down the road at Gamestation and then giving the profit back to the charity shop, I felt pretty guilty.

jdanddiet - Indeed - bizarre. ;)

Fightersmegamix - I know I know, *hangs his head in shame*.

Had a little go on the game my newphews house. Think I'll be getting it for the PC, the game world is beautiful.

I found 8 sealed Dreamcast games in a charity shop for £2 each this year, thought that was a pretty good find :)

£3?

Nice find!!

I'm waiting for the price to go down a bit on Far Cry 2. I was thinking £20-25 would've been a good buy. But £3! Unbelievable. Well done mate.

I'm almost as confused by the price as I am by what a used copy of FarCry 2 was doing at a charity shop in the first place.

I suspect some kid left a few games out for a parent to donate to a charity shop and some unwitting parent picked a copy up

I should think a kid had it bought for them and because it is very unsuitable for under 18's its been gotten rid off by a responsable parent.
I do hope you nephew is 18 or over as that game is clearly age marked and for a good reason.

Totally agree there

Hmm...

Games age rating and when they started being targeted for adults (but not pron), possible subject for an article?

Edited:

Actually better clarify. He's 15. I asked his Dad (my brother) and he was fine. Personally I believe censorship should be up to a guardian and not the state, what does everyone else think?

I agree it would be a interesting topic for discussion.

When i was in school a lad i knew was doing drugs and his folks found out. They weren't best impressed and gave all his stuff away to charity shops, and i do mean pretty much everything. Never know it could be something like that.

Suprised though that got on the shelf. im finding that charity shops are getting picked over clean with the staff having first dibs then people getting in there when the shop opens.

Ah if his Dad said it was OK I'm sure thats fine...
I like to show my 15 year old boy hardcore gay porn, I mean what harm can it do and I personly like to think I can make my own laws regarding child saftey because not having any qualifications what-so-ever in the field I think I know better than a bunch of "experts"...
I'm sure the big age restriction notices on the boxes are guidlines anyway, it's not like they are law or anything..

What you getting him for xmas, bag of coke and 2 quid hooker..?
