FM Towns Marty came close for my vote. Honestly, wtf?

PC Engine, Pippin and even Gizmondo really are not that bad names.

And yes, I voted for Wii. Honestly, when I saw this name eariler today I honestly thought Nintendo were taking the censored (awful pun, but that's how I honestly felt).
Then I realised it was REAL.

Good god. What the hell next?

'Hey everyone, let's go play with my Wii!'

Wonder if Miyamoto had a hand in this?

I like the name WonderSwan. Had a certain Digitiser-esque absurdity about it.

Stupidest console name ever is Megadrive.
I mean, it's a Mega - Drive
Its MEGA

That's a word I used to use when I was 5.

Or clearly well forgotten is the amazing Sam Coupe - not a console but certainly a bit weird.

He, I'd better go vote though I guess, hmmmm wonderswan methinks..

Doesn't matter how old you are, Mega still means one thing and Wii another...

If you were 5 again, would you have a Wii on your bedroom floor?

Megadrive wasn't too crap a name; I think most players forgot about the "mega" sounding weak after a while.

Wii on the other hand (and only one handed...) is the stupidest name for a console ever. Surely it's a marketing ploy to get attention back on Nintendo again.

"Eat. Sleep. Wii." - as someone else on the Net put it.

A week ago I would have voted for Gizmondo.
Now it has to be Wii

CDTV get's a mention just for the abbreviation. No it's not CD + TV, it's Commodore Dynamic Total Vision.

I agree, but Wii is still worse.

Genesis or TurboGrafx 16, rubbish American re-branding - The American "redesign" of the SNES is testament to that!!

Ash wrote:PC Engine was probably an ok name back when it was released (87?) but now it's just confusing if you don't know what it is.

When I worked at GameStation the trade-in sheets referred to the PCE as "PC Engine (Console)" - probably to stop the uniformed trading actual PCs in.
The name "PC Engine" refers specifically to what it was meant to be.

NEC had planned to produce (but never did) a mouse, keyboard, disk drive etc to turn it into a PC, hence the console would be the 'Engine' of the PC - WOW my heads full of useless information.

What was the trade-in value for a PCE by the way ?

Wii. Why Nintendo, why? (questioning name, console & games being released for it).
