The survival of the Amiga, with them leading the market. Still an open system and lots and lots of fantastic homebrew programs and games. Jay Miner still alive, just about the next generation Amiga, the Amiga 2009. All games perfectly optimized for the hardware, unlike the PC games of today. Developers actually have time to make the most of the hardware before a potential upgrade. Gamers stand in line to buy the new Amiga - all the big companies develop for the Amiga, Ron Gilbert and Tim Schafer announce Monkey Island 3 (for the first time), both of them still with LucasArts. They just released Day of the Tentacle 3. Psychonauts was a point'n'click adventure game, a spiritual successor of Grim Fandango. Brutal Legend is actually called Full Throttle 2: Brutal Legend. Cast is the same, game is... point'n'click.

Nintendo making games for the Amiga, SEGA just about to release the last chapter of the Shenmue Saga. Konami makes love to EA and creates FIFA Evolution 2009. Sega creates Outrun 3: Lotus Turbo Challenge. Final Fantasy VII, VIII and IX remakes in one package.

Oh, and FPS is a niche genre, and original and experimental titles coming out every week instead of a constant stream of me-too games.

I think I'll stop there... apart from me having enough money to enjoy all these superb games.

owning my own arcade....a carbon copy of the golden goose, it was an arcade on llandudno pier in the 80's and jam packed with all the best cab's!

it would not be open to the public either....just for private get togethers!

:D

Ahh, with the girlfriend, that's sweet! :)
For me, just being able to play games without being in a hurry or not having to use my spare time catching up on sleep.

A giant arcade arena with everything on freeplay, from retro to brand new, the arcade would be bigger than an Asda Walmart store, and will be 24/7

it will also have laser tag type game in built up into the rafters.

My idea of gaming heaven? A reality where Shenmue 3 not only gets released but the story is also completely finished.

Not retro. But a Sunday afternoon in a clean flat (a rarity) no one bothering me and playing 5-6 hours of Simcity 4. I love Simcity.
WANTED: Amiga CD32 games. PM me. :)

For me Gaming Heaven = two machines still in existence, the Amiga 2008/09 with the best evey games in existence (and NO PCs around at all) and the Amstrad CPC 9000000 with built in Blu-Ray player

Settling the 11 month old child to bed then spending 2 hours trying to get 'one more achievment' on the 360.

How life changes when you have a tike.

I had designs on getting all my consoles connected in my computer room - i just dont have the time anymore, but i look forward to my little un appreciating the games of yesteryear.

They aren't rules. Rather, they're guide-lines.
