Freestyler wrote:Finished Crackdown yesterday. Not as long as I expected it to be (being a sandbox game and all) but it was thoroughly enjoyable non-the-less. The slow upgrading of your Agent into a Super-Human powerhouse was particularly engaging, especially as the game seemed to dynamically scale in relation to your War-Machine status. At times there seemed like hundreds of bad guys were after me!

A greatly recommended game. I've already ordered Crackdown 2 off play.com. Down to a tenner brand new. A TENNER! :D
2 isn't quite as good as 1 but when you get the wing suit updgrade and the jet boots, it's a shed load of fun flying around the city.

It's a bit boring in places, but if you keep going it gets better. I kept stopping and playing something else, it took me about 9 months to get through the first playthrough :)

It's worth playing through again for ending B because it throws more of the story in during the second playthrough.
Quite a lot of people seem to find the game depressingly bleak. It didn't bother me because I just didn't give a toss about any of the game's characters. Similair themes had already been explored for me in Resonance Of Fate, which definitely dulled my experience with Nier I think. There was more than a few moments of deju vu with regard to the story. The game didn't really provide any emotional twinge for me until ending D. And that was more to do with seeing my gamesave disappear than any sort of major handkerchief moment.

You don't have to do a complete run through for endings B, C or D. You start in the library from just after the fight with the boss that regenerates. For endings C and D you need all of the weapons. The weapons don't have to be upgraded and some you can only get via certain side quests. Best way to do it if your going for all the endings is to get hold of weapons you've missed whilst going for ending B. Then playthrough and make a separate save not too far from the end to save time, but ensure you choose ending C before D.

Croc on PS1 last night.

Game was much harder than i thought it would be. Its a typical PS1 platformer with cutsey visuals, let down by some seriously frustrating jumping sections. Admittedly it wasnt brilliant.

I remember that game! At the time I thought it was pretty nifty, although not having much to compare it to at the time often had that effect.
Plus you're right about the platformy jumpy bits. I guess nobody had that down that early on since most PS1 3D Platformers seemed to have terribly frustrating 3D perspective-based jumping. Apart from Jumping Flash actually.

Id really like to pick that up some day. Always been interested in it since i played it when i was about 7 years old.

Yeah thats the thing about Croc. When it came out everyone thought it was great. But then when you compare it to other 3D PS1 platformers like Crash and Spyro, it isnt brilliant really.

I completed Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception earlier. It's a really entertaining game, and I'm glad I have it in my collection. The graphics are pretty good for the PSP, with plenty of detail. The missions are very varied, too. There was only one mission that annoyed me - an escort mission, unsurprisingly. Some of the missions were brilliant, though, especially the mass dog fight on one of the later levels. I actually watched the replay for that one.

Since there are multiple routes through the game and I haven't unlocked everything I think there is real re-play value in this.

Completed Zone of the Enders. Pretty short but a lot of fun. Really enjoyed the combat and the music is ace. Solid plot too.

Had a bash on ZoE2, looks amazing!

Also completed God of War Chains of Olympus. Very good version on the PSP. Ghost of Sparta looks even better.

Actually *finished* Deadly Premonition the other night but spent this afty mopping up the few remaining sidequests/trading cards I had left, to '100%' it, I'd played throught the main story doing as much of the 'side stuff' as I could so had very little left to collect upon completing it. It's funny, once you get the main story out of the way, the town of Greenvale starts to feel like a 'husk', just another boring town, it's a bit depressing going back to it and feeling like there's no real reason to remain there, it's a place you really start to love when playing through it - but once I'd got the final trading card, collected the Achievement, it was uninstalled from my hard drive in an instant. I put over 89 hours of gaming into this, and now it's all over. :(

(*Prays for a sequel*) :?:

Just completed Mafia 2 on the 360. Fun game but a very rubbish ending.

Just completed HALO.

Unfortunately the halo was destroyed at the end. That's a shame I wanted to play the sequel too. Oh well, I must be more careful next time.
