I used to play Road Rash on the Megadive along with soundgardens superunknown album, this was before the 3DO and Megacd versions which featured some Soundgardern songs them.

What games did you use to play with your own soundtrack? 8)

Ahhh, fond memories of playing the silent Star Wars on my Speccy with Michael Jackson's album Bad playing on my stereo. Happy days!

Lol! How times change and how the mighty have fallen. The favourite movies of my childhood nearly having my love for them trashed by the prequels and as for MJ...

I don't wanna derail the thread with that debate but I'd just point out he was found not guilty in a court of law.

I tend to play games along with some of my Helter Skelter or Dreamscape tapes. However, most of games tend to have a fairly good soundtrack, negating the need to listen to music too.

Although I generally listen to punk stuff the rest of the time, I often listen to dodgy 80's pop stuff like Adam & the Ants, Human League and Duran Duran when playing retro games. Sort of puts me in a time warp :)

None. I need maximum concentration when playing a game as I get very easily distracted.

I remember playing Space Harrier on my ZX whilst listening to Jean Michel Jarre's Equinoxe that was quite an experience as the game was trippy anyway! Also Rendez Vous was a good one to play along too as well!

Bizarrely Firebirds Booty was played with Dire Straits Brothers In Arms but then again they had both just come out!

i sort of lay claim to having invented Geometry Wars before Bizarre Creations did by playing Minestorm on the Vectrex with "Boss Drum" by the Shamen on the CD player... but nobody takes me seriously! =-)

Lately I find Id make up my own mix type playlists for certain genres of games, tho this is only when I tend to get bored n sick of the original soundtracks.

FPS – Iron Maiden/Muse/Metallica/Faith No More/RATM
Racing – Sharkey/Prodigy/John B/Pendulum
Puzzle (quieter type games) – Brian Eno/Boards of Canada/Tangerine Deam
Shooters – Autechre/Aphex Twin

Oh and I go through phases of listening to c64 sid mp3s to games…..mmmmm cod4 with platoon/rastan/glider rider/human race and saboteur in the background :D
