I voted N64, as I had one and really enjoyed Goldeneye, Mario 64, Perfect Dark, Zelda amongst others. Playing Guardian Heroes, Virtua Fighter, 10-player Bomberman and Death Tanks Zwei on my friends Saturn almost made me pick the Sega machine!

The Sega Saturn. What a thrilling arcade-at-home experience that was. I was a Playstation owner and picked one up (about the time it was going off the market) cheap at the HMV where I worked at the time (and I transferred in all the cheap games from other stores!). What a revelation. There's something about the colour palette, the sound, the form factor that just made it so much more exciting than the 'too cool for school' Playstation.

Although it gets a lot of love here, and I understand why, I really hate the N64. The overpriced games, the weak sound, the unintuitive controller and, most of all, the muddy foggy visuals. Don't get me wrong, I love the games, but I really hate the hardware.

For overall quality, volume and variety of games, the N64 is my pick. Give or take the infamous 'blur-o-vision', I thought it handled 3D graphics a lot better than either the Playstation and Saturn too.

But I'm happy to also own a Playstation and Saturn, there's a numerous selection of excellent games to be found on them as well.

Seem to love playing the N64, especially quality games such as Super Mario 64 and Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Favourite moment was playing multi-players on GoldenEye 007 and Super Mario Kart, which was incredibly amazing.

Also with the PS1, it was great to have the likes of ISS Pro Evolution, Metal Gear Solid, Point Blank, and Tekken 3 on that console.

Amiga CD32 - not really 5th gen

3DO - a shoe in at best

Atari Jaguar - aged even on release

Sega Saturn - No match for the Sony architecturally or in back catalogue

Nintendo 64 - I used to think I needed glasses. Turned out I was playing an N64

Sony Playstation - The only rational choice.

That was a pretty pointless post. All it will do is enrage fans of the other consoles and cause fanboy arguments

I wouldn't say it was pointless. It makes 5 very concise points, to be exact. Two of them are incorrect, though. (I'll let you guess which ones)

3DO for me was amazing. The games on the 3DO were still better than the playstation versions despite being a weak machine. Space Hunk, Need For Speed were brilliant.

Having a 4 player on olympics game was some of the most fun i have ever had on a console.

Wing Commander 4 is still one of my all time favorites. So many great games!

Sega Saturn, which is not only the greatest 5th Gen console (IMO) but one of the greatest consoles ever in the history of gaming :)

I spent way too much time on Goldeneye so it has to be the N64. Also Zelda OOT, I spent to much time watching lighting storms over the lake LOL.

Amiga CD32 - A1200 with most of the bits missing.

3DO - 1 good game (Need for Speed).

Atari Jaguar - I felt sorry for the people that bought one full price.

Sega Saturn - Awfull pile of junk with a very small amount of games that are worth playing.

Nintendo 64 - Fantastic console with some great games that are still very playable.

Sony Playstation - Easy the best machine out of this lot, yes there was a lot of rubbish released on it but if you side step those you still have a HUGE choice of top quality games.

I really didn't jump the 3D bandwagon until I got a Playstation in '97. Up until then I was Amiga exclusively, and very few of them were 3D (Alien Breed 3D or Xtreme Racing). The PS1 also introduced me to at least one new genre (jrpgs). I tried an N64 later on, and I loved games like Conker's Bad Fur Day and Zelda. But 99% of my favourites from that time were Playstation games, so that gets my vote.
