I have all Hiive books, including your, Jerry. I'm also ready to pre order it your new volume. I'm never tired of the British 8-bit and 16-bit scene.
I really cherish all my Hiive volumes. :)

Unfortunately, life can beat us hard, like it happened with me personally and both of you, Fischer and Rollings.
But please, when you feel you're healthy enough and with the right mood, please do finish and publish your Amiga book.
I'll wait. :)

Hi everyone!

my first post for a couple of years!
Sorry to reopen an old thread but have been looking around for a list of retro books I can ask for at Christmas, (Elite Dangerous coming out in December has made me even more nostalgic than usual this year) :)

These Hiive books look great but unsure whether any of them are still available, I see the Speccy one is out of print. Anybody have any idea please if any of the books on the site are still available and whether there are any plans to reprint them?

Thanks
Russ

I sold my 8 bit book a month or two ago, went for about £45 !!!

But yeah i've ordered the Speccy book by Boyo, looks GREAT and apparently will come early December. Looking forward to that one

I love the look of that C64 Commpendium book (apart from its full of C64 games ;) but i hope they do a Speccy one. Some books i like to read a lot about the development, other ones i just want to see great big screenshots !

Also ordered this book...

Push Start: The Art of Video Games
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/3943 ... ge_o00_s00

Lots of huge screenshots, looks a decent book, should get that soon i hope

I did notice the Eight Bit book was on Amazon.com a couple of months ago (softcover of course). Worth a look there for that and others, if you don't mind a bit extra in postage. Being from NZ I'm used to paying OTT freight charges though, have no choice

Double-announcement time. First up, The 8-Bit Book - 1981 to 199x is available to buy again for the first time since 2009! I have a batch of brand-new paperback copies from the original print run, each priced at £17.99 plus p&p. Postage is £2.25 within the UK, £6.60 within Europe and £10.15 everywhere else. This is the first time it’s been possible to buy The 8-Bit Book outside of eBay for a number of years, and it’s also the cheapest it’s ever been to buy the book in the UK - when they first came out they were all dispatched from the USA, and postage to the UK was ridiculously high at something like £8 per book!

For anyone unfamiliar with the book or seeing this thread for the first time, here’s a cherry-picked selection of humbling praise for The 8-Bit Book - 1981 to 199x:

“ … wonderfully presented… a varied and a highly informative read…” - Retro Gamer magazine (Treasure of the Month, December 2009)
“… a truly varied read that effortlessly jumps from nostalgia to gaming history and even touches on design philosophy.” - Obsolete Gamer
“… extremely well-written… exceeds any other videogame book I've read.” - A.S.G. (amazon.com reviewer)
“… a jewel…” - Ars Lucida
“… a real gem… depicts a whole epoch with dynamism and precision.” - grospixels.com

The book also benefits from a foreword contributed by none other than David Braben.

To buy a copy, payment should be made directly to jerellis1@yahoo.com via PayPal Friends & Family (this eliminates additional fees; anyone who would prefer to pay via standard PayPal Goods and Services is welcome to do so, but there would be a small additional charge to cover the resulting fees - exact amount TBC). Please e-mail me or PM me your address details when you send your payment and I will get back to you with an order number. The 8-Bit Book is in stock right now and will be dispatched immediately upon receipt of payment. If anyone wants me to sign or dedicate their copy, let me know and I’ll make it so.

The next announcement is actually the big one. My new book - more than three years in the making - is at last complete and available to preorder. The Book of the Game of the Film is a full-colour, 300-page, 150,000-word hardcover epic and you can click on the link to its dedicated rllmuk thread just as soon as you’ve feasted your eyes on this delightful dust jacket cover:

You can read all about it and have a browse through some sample pages right here: https://www.rllmukforum.com/index.php?/ ... rable-now/.

I have a handful of copies (about 30... so that's six handfuls I suppose) of the very rare, very beautiful and very shiny hardcover limited edition of The 8-Bit Book - 1981 to 199x available, priced at £29.99 a pop plus p&p. To nab one of these last remaining copies while you can, head over to Golem Books, scroll to the foot of the page, gasp in astonishment that it's really true, click on the PayPal link corresponding to your country, confirm your order and leave the rest to me! ---> https://jerellis1.wixsite.com/golembooks

Just thought I'd share a little Facebook alert I posted earlier today with the Retro Gamer forum faithful:

We're down to the last few copies of the limited hardcover edition of The 8-Bit Book - 1981 to 199x here at Golem Books, so shake a leg and grab yours for the super-low clearance price of £19.99 plus p&p before they're all gone! While you're at it, why not invest in the paperback edition of The Book of the Game of the Film as well (for only £14.99 plus p&p), or even a paperback copy of The 8-Bit Book (now down to just £11.99)? I'm on my way there right now if you need a lift! ---> https://jerellis1.wixsite.com/golembooks
