Ah, that explains the difficulty in popping on the site.

I do hope the Retro Gamer mag will have a good feature on the new book, and a decent review

Fear not folks - the books are being dispatched as we speak / type. Andrew's posting around twenty copies a day and there are around 240 pre-orders to get through, so they should all be on their way within the next few days. As for Retro Gamer, Andrew told me that he gave a copy to the editor at the retro event in Huddersfield last week and that the initial reaction was promising! I'm also eagerly awaiting the Retro Gamer review - I just hope whoever reviews it likes what he sees!

It's worth the wait (though the less said about the historically innacurate cover the better ;) ).

I'm staying out of this one! Although those who were less than keen on the final 'digital display' cover will be pleased to know that my alternative cover design (the Sgt. Pepper album cover pastiche) has made it into the book as a double-page spread 'interlude' between the 1984 and 1985 chapters. :)

EDIT: That said, the final product does look rather lovely, especially in limited edition hardback form (nice and shiny). The pictures on the Hiive website don't do it justice at all, although the photos I posted a page or so earlier in this thread will give you a pretty clear idea of how nice it looks. Incidentally, for all those who are still awaiting their copies, I've just e-mailed Andrew for an update - I think he mentioned something about blitzing through the outstanding orders this weekend, so I'm sure anyone who is still to receive their copy will have it in their hands within the next few days.

Yeah, sorry,.. Not only have I had to change jobs and continents, but I've also had to contend with a upstream server problem causing the server to be down for about three weeks until I could convince AT&T to come and fix it. All the shipping information is on the server, so I couldn't get to it.

The good news is that I have about two-thirds of the initial orders shipped. Not much consolation if yours isn't one of them, but the rest should be going out in the next two weeks.

Sorry :(

I do update my Twitter feed regularly with the latest news, so it's worth checking that.
And when I get a moment to breathe again, I'll be revamping the website
to include it.

Andrew

I'm getting a bit concerned that we're never going to get this book. If 2 thirds have been shipped can the people who have had their copy post here ....

I got an email today saying that mine has been shipped so it should arrive later this week.

Be patient, if the book is anything like as good as the others then it'll be worth the wait.

With all due respect Mr. Opa, it was the 25th of September when you last commented on the book's admittedly tardy arrival...!
